My Email Was Hacked!

If you get an email from me saying I am stuck in Manila or some other weird email,
please don't open it or respond.
Stupid Hackers!

My credit card was used in France (I seem to be doing a lot of traveling lately--Manila and France--wow!) but luckily the bank caught it.

If you get hacked, run, don't walk, to change your passwords on all your accounts. That seems to help thwart those hacker's nasty activities.

I'm very careful with my information. I don't click on links that arrive in emails, I don't share my info with anyone, and I definitely don't share my blogger friend's email address. I don't know why this happened and we usually don't. Hackers are slime bags that creep into a weak spot to grab and go with our info.

Thank you to all of you who have sent me emails and been so understanding.
P. S. I'm glad you did NOT send money to Manila on my behalf.

  6. Bummer! My friend's house was broken into over Christmas and she's been battling the repercussions of that. Be warned - they took old checks on an account that was closed on a bank that no longer existed and someone local cashed them! And my friend had to go to great trouble to get that straightened out. Shred all old checks and credit cards, even if not activated. :( blessings, marlene

  7. Poor Carol...but if you did go to France and Manila, I bet the credit card receipts would be from fabric stores! Hope it all gets settled sooner than later...

  8. Rosemary B here: Oh that is terrible.
I swear people need therapy. Why all of this thievery? Shame on them. I hope they were caught and punished with 20 years hard labor!

  11. I am so very very sorry that you had to deal with it. So glad your bank caught it. We were hacked before Christmas. Not only did the hackers send a similar message to all in our address book, they stole all our files. We lost everything! We even lost our list of houses that we were considering buying in another state (we are moving in June). The hackers also put a filter on that sent any incoming mail to trash. My husband spent hours trying to get it all resolved, and we are still trying to rebuild our address book. Fortunately our realtor here called us and alerted us to the problem. Nancy

  12. Several years ago I finally took the plunge and got a debit card. I activated it but never used it. One day I was checking my account on-line to see if a check had cleared yet and there was a withdrawal made in England and one in France. I thought what the heck. It being Sunday I had to wait until Monday morning to call the bank. In the mean time all my money was withdrawn from Canada, Spain, France, and England. The bank took care of it and I got all my money back but not a fun experience. I hardly ever use my debit card for that reason. You can't hack cash.

  13. What a bummer. I had a credit card account that someone tried to use before Christmas, not once but twice. Seems they didn't get the security code correct, so bank caught it and changed my account.
