Focus!

I have a gazillion half started, half finished projects:

Green and black blocks--on design wall; not going anywhere with that one.
Grinch quilt--needs binding
Gold quilt--bindng sewn on, will hand finish (ugh)
Red, White, Blue blocks--a few made, just need to decide what else to do and if I like them.
Ghastlies--several of those in progress at different stages
Valentine quilt--pretty ruffle, but needs quilting

Oh my gosh! That isn't even the beginning of what sits in containers or are scattered here and there. I don't even want to talk about the haven't-even-started-but-I-have-the-fabric projects.

Tomorrow.
Yes, tomorrow I will focus and get organized.
Maybe.
Or not.

New Blogs, New Ideas, New Followers!

Oh my! There were so many entries to my contest--I never get that many visitors in a year (or two, or three)! Love it! This whole blog hopping giveaway with SMS was so fun. I've found new amazing blogs to get ideas from, picked up a few followers  (thanks!), started following LOTS of blogs, and entered so many contests. Whew!

Because I am so excited that
some of you were kind enough to follow me
(I'm easily excited about these types of things),
I'm adding just a little extra giveaway on my simple little blog
as a way of saying "Thank You!" for following me.

This giveaway is only open for a few days--winner will be chosen on Monday, May 28th, 6 p.m. PST, and announced soon after.

CONTEST IS OVER--THANKS!
Rules for entry:
1. Must be a Follower (which is why I'm doing this in the first place), new or not-so-new, and leave a comment (I like short and sweet ones, like "chocolate truffles"--that one came from the other giveaway and made me laugh)
2. Make sure I can contact you if you're a noreply blogger. Typing out your email address like this helps avoid spammers: iblog at aol dot com.
3. I'll mail the giveaway item anywhere if you win.
4. Only one entry per person.

Wait!
What am I giving away you ask?
Well.....it will be a little Ghastlie surprise package similar to the
one I gave away in that other contest, but not the same.
You'll just have to win to see what you get.

And The Winner Is....#57, Anya!

CONGRATULATIONS, ANYA!

Sun Oven Giveaway!

I know, I know, this isn't anything to do with quilting, crafting, or sewing, BUT it is a really great giveaway (plus the website has lots of emergency prep information.)

Food Storage Moms is giving away a Global Sun Oven which really works without electricity! So cool!

Picked Up My Gold Quilt

Quilted Works called to tell me my "Gold Quilt" was finished. The fabric is from Laurel Burch, but I think calling it my "Gold Quilt" is quite appropriate. The choice of gold thread for quilting was perfect! Now I just have to bind it, which if based on my track record usually means it will be weeks or months. Hopefully, sooner rather than later....
The swirling gold thread looks so nice--love it!
The back is from Laurel Burch, too--love the birds!
The back has three pink stripes--simple but nice

Giveaway Day!

Sew, Mama, Sew! is hosting a
Giveaway Day--check it out!

I love those Ghastlies so that's my giveaway today--hope you love them, too!
If you win, you'll get one yard of the family members print (I love that pregnant Ghastlie!)
and 1/2 yard of two prints to go with it.
You have until Friday, May 25th, 6 p.m. my time (PST) to enter and then I'll pick a random winner.

Contest has official ended!

Finished One, Started Two...or Three

Having a few days off just to sew and play has been so fun. I went to my favorite quilt store just to see what was new and of course, found something I HAD to have. Geez, my stash is reaching hoarding proportions!

They had a Cat In The Hat on the wall (it was calling my name) in MINKY! Loved it! It's kind of narrow and I hate sewing on Minky because it moves so much, but this is what I did to it (nothing fancy):
I dropped it off to be quilted at Quilted Works (which is also my favorite quilt store) with a cute Minky back made from a Cat-In-The-Hat fabric.
This fabric has been all sewn up for months and waiting for a back, which I finished, so it got dropped off for quilting, too.
This one is for a good friend of mine who doesn't sew (which means she will most likely not notice all those little mistakes I made.) She's had a few trials going on in her life, so I want her to know she is loved. I used the same fabric to make my little ruffled quilt (it still needs quilting and binding) and started out making it as a quilt-as-you-sew blanket. Once I had it finished, I thought it needed more so I quilted it on the diagonal with straight stitches.

A Little Tumble

I wish it was a tumbler quilt that I had been sewing, but no, it was more like an old lady (me) tumbling down the stairs. Last week I was coming downstairs (I hate stairs!) and for some reason I thought I was on the last step, but I was two steps up from the bottom. I hit the ceramic tile floor pretty hard with my right foot and came down with all the grace of a cow, landing fully on my knees. And my hands.

Nothing is broken (I got x-rayed), but I had to hobble around for two days at work looking like Igor. After painfully walking around all day, my boss told me "if you don't feel well tomorrow, call an ambulance to bring you in." He really said that! He had good reason, though, since we had a HUGE meeting and I'm the note taker, video set-up person, make it all work person, etc. I made it to work (totally in pain) and did my job. I still can't get on my knees (no floor scrubbing for me) or walk on hard floors without limping, but I'm better than I was last week. Sewing has been tough, but today I managed to whip up a few red, white, and blue squares.

Anyway...whine, whine, whine.I am excited to take a little vacation and spend the next five days sewing and just relaxing in the red hills of Utah. Hmmm.....maybe I should make another tumbler quilt.

It's A Ghastlie Sort of Addiction

It's a good addiction, right? I just had to buy a little bit (okay, so several yards) of the newest Ghastlies when I saw it come available at Quilted Works. I received it in the mail yesterday and love it even more now that I actually have it in my hot little hands. It is so dang cute! Now I just have to decide what to make with it...hmmm.....

Just A Present

But, not just any present. Receiving a gift is always fun, but when I know that the gift was homemade (by someone who doesn't sew very often) it is really special to me. My daughter "whipped" this up for my birthday with a little help from her three boys. She apologized for the uneven and skipped stitches (my five-year-old grandson got a little heavy-footed on the pedal a few times-LOL!) but I think it is just so cute! Thanks, Linds, I love it!

From Here, To There, To There, To ......

I've started following more blogs since I joined that hop thingy at Madame Samm's. Hours seem to fly by as I stalk visit other blogs that are linked to other blogs, that are linked to other blogs, that....you get the picture.

There are some really funny and creative blogs out there. My whole world has opened up by doing this blog stalking hopping thing. I'm loving it, but I'm just wondering how anybody finds time to sew, blog, clean, work, or whatever when there are just so many wonderful places to visit.

Got to go. Somebody just posted something on their blog.

Just Saying...You Inspire Me

In case I haven't mentioned it lately, you inspire me. I'm grateful for that! Your blog posts have kept me going through good times ...
