Thank Goodness For Color, Chocolate, And Boys

I watched a movie last night where the leading character only wanted to take black and white photos. Though I love the look of b&w photos, I can't imagine the quilting world embracing this idea. Thank goodness for color!

Just not the same without color

Much better!

One thing I'll really miss when the Monkey's family moves away, is Sunday dinners. We had tamale pie and a chocolate cake last Sunday. This may not look very good, but it was delicious! The frosting goes on while the cake is hot and melts down into the all the corners.

The Monkey's family took pics this week and then we went for shaved ice. Yes, dessert is the focus of most of our get togethers!

If it is there, they will climb it.

Peace Baby!
Hanging out in my front yard with my favorite four year old.

If you haven't checked out the videos/shopping with the Sew Yeah brothers, you need to.
Sign-up for their alerts and join in the fun. I must warn you, though, it can be addictive.
They are regularly on YouTube Tuesday and Saturday at 5 p.m. PST.

Even when I'm not in a buying mood, it's fun to watch the guys and see the fabrics they show.
Their website is HERE. They also have Facebook sales. Register HERE.

This was my latest purchase from one of their flash sales. How fun is that SPAM fabric!

I'll be sewing this pattern with my quilty friends soon.
One Way from Purple Pineapple Studios.

Of course, besides shopping and hanging out with the boys, I'm sewing.
Benartex Warp and Welp gingham is really nice fabric.

Easter is coming and that means bunnies, eggs, and more bunnies, which you will find in my "Peek-A-Boo Bunnies" pillow that I'm sharing over on the ThermOWeb blog.

Three bunnies in batiks, trying to hide behind the eggs.

My Corner Of The World In Photos

My corner of the world in photos includes last week's hourglass project from the "Time in a Bottle" blog hop. The whole week was inspiring, beautiful, and fun! I love seeing how everyone meets the blog hop challenges. You can see all the participants HERE.

I used Benartex "Ale House" for my project that included Dresdens and hourglass blocks that were full of peanuts, pretzels, and cool fabrics with "ale" products.

The photoshoot was in Boulder City, NV, where there was a giant bunny, scorpion, and other desert critters. It was so fun to hike out there that we took my niece and her family there this weekend. They came from Arizona for a soccer tournament in Las Vegas and we were so lucky to have them stay with us!

We took time to look at all the other desert critters, like this tortoise. I love these three people!

The Gila Monster prompted some tongues to be stuck out by these two cuties.
The sky was getting darker and darker, so we walked a little faster to see everything.

The wind almost blew us off the rattlesnake who is way bigger than any snake I ever want to see!

The Horned Toad brought the child out in my husband.

It was so detailed!

No sign of the coyote. just the roadrunner.

That dang scorpion was still there!

They loved the big bunny!

The little Monkey Baby is getting big too fast!

Poor Bruster had some dental work done. He looked so pathetic.

This bloomed in my front yard...loving it!

The next two blog hops...hurry and sign up. You know you want to!

Shhh...this one is for June.

I'd love to see your world in photos!

Time In A Bottle Blog Hop And My Day Too

It has been an exciting week full of hourglasses of all types and colors in the "Time in a Bottle" blog hop...so fun! Who would have thought there could be so many ideas for hourglass blocks!

I don't usually have a project in mind when I post a challenge for my blog hops and this time I really had no clue what I was going to make. Until I saw Benartex's "Ale House" by Kanvas Studio and then my brain went into overdrive (it does that sometimes.)

"Time in a Bottle"

The quilt is 76" tall, so you know this rabbit is big!
He can be found at Bootleg Canyon in Boulder City, Nevada, along with other desert critters.

Making 12 hourglasses met the blog hop challenge for sure!

Here are instructions for making your own 7" finished hourglass block:

I love the combo of peanuts, pretzels and ale in the Dresden blocks.

These are the Benartex "Ale House" fabrics in my quilt. The colors are very vibrant!
I'm thinking any of these would be perfect for a soup bowl cozy.

This guy would be scary to run into if he was real!

The area in and around Las Vegas has lots of these yucky scorpions that sometimes venture into

houses. One of the Monkey Boys was unlucky enough to get bit by one in his living room.

The sun wasn't very helpful with this photo, but you can see how big that scorpion
is compared to the quilt. Yikes! Luckily, we didn't run into any real ones out there.

My crew guy was very brave helping me out!

As ugly as roadrunners can be, they are so fascinating to watch. They run through
the deserts, neighborhoods, and golf courses looking for their meals.

You can find the pattern for "Time in a Bottle" HERE.

Here are the other "Time in A Bottle" hourglass stichers...check them out!

I hope you've enjoyed this week's "Time in a Bottle" blog hop. I have!
There are so many ways to use this easy and fun block.
