Getting Back In The Groove Of Things

I got back from Ohio a few days ago after being gone two weeks to hangout with my daughter, son-in-law, Monkey Boys and that sweet Monkey Girl. It was fabulous!

I didn't have my sewing machine (gasp) so there was a bit of withdrawal at first. I got over that quick when the home improvement projects began at my daughter's house.

Monkey Boy #2 is quite the handyman. He installed this ceiling lamp and laughed at the big shock he got when accidently touching two wires together. I didn't laugh at the big flaming ball that flashed for a moment. It took a while for the numbness to leave his hands. I'm too old for that kind of scare!

We painted the 1960's colored walls with a nice gray with white trim. Even I got up on a ladder and did my share, and the rest of the family pitched in, too. The youngest boys did their part by supervising while using their electronic toys.

There was swimming at the hotel pool.

Shopping for football shoes.

He got into a mechanic's class, so we went tool shopping.

There's only one little quilt shop in the area and we went so my quilting/fabric shopping
needs were met and it helped with the withdrawals. I bought one thing.

We went to Ritter's ice cream place...yum!

Their trampoline has a net around it and I managed to squeeze this chubby and old body
through the opening. No photos of me and no paramedics were called to extract me from it
when we were through playing in there. I got out on my own.

She wasn't sure about having grandma on her trampoline.

These two stayed at the hotel with me on two different nights. It was nice to have the company.

It was so hard to leave!

One nice thing about coming home was that Carla from Creatin' in the Sticks came to visit.
We had a blast getting a Starbucks treat, visiting two quilt stores, going to lunch,
visiting the Bellagio Garden, and dropping a few bucks into the casino machines.
We also might have won a little bit!

The Bellagio Garden is so pretty to walk through.

One day wasn't enough with this sweet lady!

It Is A Jungle Fiesta

It is definitely a "Jungle Fiesta" with Benartex's bright and happy fabric, "Safari Fun" by Terry Runyan. The fabrics were so fun to be creative with!

"Jungle Fiesta"
50" x 50"

This bundle of fat quarters was used for "Jungle Fiesta".
I love all the colors and designs!

The fabric on the back was so cute with various jungle animals.

With applique being my thing, of course there are these guys on the quilt.

There are amazing prints throughout this fabric line and a stripe that was perfect for the binding.

You can find "Jungle Fiesta" in my Etsy store HERE.

Flashback Friday Block

Someone emailed me about "A Time For All Seasons" block of the month that was way, way back in 2019. I know, that's not that long ago, but when I look at all the BOM's that have I've been involved with since then, it seems a long time ago!

Since I'm off hanging out with the Monkey Boys and Monkey Girl (and loving it),
I thought I'd share a few of the blocks with you for free.
They are just the right size to add to pillows, tote bags, or even a small quilt.

This was a fun one for June as the traditional wedding month.
You can find the block pattern HERE.

Too bad Father's Day is over. This one was perfect for all those ties dad's receive.
You can find the block pattern HERE.

Maybe we just need to sail off into the sunset with this one.

Enjoy!

Pigs Flying All Over The Place

I had no idea what PIGS were until Joan at Moosestash Quilting told me.
It was a brilliant blog hop idea to get some of our "projects in grocery sacks" finished.

She really pushed my button on this one!
I found way too many PIGS in my fabric closet. Yikes!
Thanks to Joan, I finished quite a few.

I found a great rock wall at a park near me...perfect for quilt photos.

PIGS #1

This one was started by my grandson but he never finished it.
His life is pretty busy right now, so I finished it for him.

It was a great way to use up a charm pack.

PIGS #2

The Ghastlie fabric is one of my favorites, but for some reason I never finished this one from 2011.
All it needed was to be quilted and binding added.

PIGS #3

My friend, Susan, made me this Ghastlie quilt top. I added a border, quilted it with minky
on the back, and added binding. This one is mine...I love how soft and cozy it is!
It was a little windy for pics, but I managed with the help of my crew.

PIGS #4

Last summer, Joan came to visit (it was a whirlwind of fun!) and showed Susan and I
how to do pantos on my longarm. This was a practice piece and I didn't want to just
throw it away, so it now has binding and will be a donation quilt.

I've had the fabric FOREVER but never used it. Love those girls!

PIGS #5

This one was a paper pieced quilt that was sewn in 2012. It had the top, bottom, and binding
just waiting in a bag for me to finish it. I scribbled some quilting on it and called it done!

PIGS #6

This quilt was made using the tube method of strips that get cut at different areas.
It only needed a couple more strips at the bottom to be finished.
Quilted and binding added...done!

I think I love Joan for pushing me to do this...or maybe not. LOL
She can be quite wicked (but fun) sometimes!

I've been so impressed with all the PIGS that have been finished.
Check them out all the PIGS by visiting these blogs...lots of fun!
