Desert Bloom Blog Hop With Amanda Herring

Amanda Herring from The Quilted Fish has a new and amazing fabric line called Desert Bloom.
Love it (and that cute Amanda Herring, too!)
Amanda and Riley Blake Designs gathered several of us together to get creative with this
gorgeous fabric. You can check out all the fabrics in the Desert Bloom line HERE.

A Dresden Bloom Quilt

Quilted Works did the beautiful quilting on this...love it!
You can't see it, but there is cuddly white minky on the back

I love all the birds on her fabric, so I embroidered one in the middle of the Dresden.

A sweet apron for the dolly in the other Desert Bloom color...the pattern is Simplicity #1240...

...and one for this cute girl!

Thanks, Miss Ellie, for being my apron model!

Thanks, Riley Blake Designs and Amanda, for letting me sew with this sweet fabric!

Oh, and look at this cute "Thank You" from Amanda...the cookie was delicious, by-the-way.
Thank you. Amanda, for this sweet package and for letting me sew with your fabric!

Summer Treats Quilt

I'm definitely an ice cream lover and I have to admit I don't eat it just in the summer.
That cold yummy stuff is a year round treat for me, especially if it is chocolate ice cream.
My dogs love it when I share the last of my sugar cone with them.

It looks like this pup is delighted with the ice cream drops...I would be, too!

Summer Treats

My friend, Barbara, did the quilting...love the cute little sun and
I added Deco Foil to give some shine to the ice cream.

Head over to the Therm O Web blog to see how I added the Deco Foil to the quilt...HERE.

A Knit Quilt For Monkey Baby

I've been a little slow getting Monkey Baby a quilt...like over a year too slow!
I wanted to practice a little FMQ using my ponce pad and stencil, and use some knit fabric I had
sitting around, so I figured this would be a fun quilt to give Monkey Baby to just play on.

It's entirely made of knit fabric (t-shirt type fabric) and is 28" x 40".
The dog was in EQ7, but I changed him up a bit.

This stencil and ponce helped me practice FMQ, but don't look too close
or you'll see some lines that aren't where they are suppose to be.

I got this adorable package in the mail from Amanda Herring of Quilted Fish.
She is so darn cute! The box had a note about Jello being Utah's official state snack.
Jello is okay, but that decorated cookie was yummy!

Her Desert Bloom fabric just came out and is beautiful!

No spiders or bees, but I spied this cool bug chomping on a flower.

These are blooming in my backyard thanks to my sister...love them!

I hope you're off to a great summer!

Some Things Are More Important Than Sewing

Ack!
Did I just say that "some things are more important than sewing?"
Yes. Yes, I did, though I choked a bit when I said it.
What's more important? For one very big thing, this guy...

The three-year-old Monkey Boy came for a week long visit to hang out with us.
It was suppose to be fun times at the park, dinner at Chuck-A-Rama, and swimming.
I was going to sew once in a while when he played with his grandpa.
Instead it was a week long visit of throwing up, fevers, and even a hospital visit.
He was attached to me almost the entire week...which was not such a bad thing except he was so sick.

On the day we had to take him home to his mom and dad, we took him on the
promised trip to feed the ducks and see the fish. He was one happy boy!

There was even a baby duck to see!

Grandpa's Pond was all fixed up and a beautiful place to visit!

Thank goodness for his Doodah to carry him back to the car when the fever started coming back.
Poor little guy!

Besides spending time with the monkeys, we also painted my daughter's balcony last weekend.
My daring hubby! I preferred just hanging over the edge to paint instead of climbing the ladder.

Enough of what I've been doing besides sewing...it's time to sew!

Getting Creative With Deco Foil On A Quilt

One of my adventures lately has been to get creative with Deco Foil on a quilt.
This time I learned to layer two different colors of the foil. Fun!

Check out how I did it over on the Therm O Web blog HERE.
So many amazing colors of Deco Foil to choose from!

Get this pattern at my Craftsy store HERE.

I was so lucky to get to sew some of Jennifer Jangles Strawberry Festival fabric!
I love her fabric!

Today I'm over at the ThermOWeb blog showing how I made this quilt with that cute fabric.
Look! It has giant strawberries and a RUFFLE!
A pocket for my bunny from Jennifer Jangles pattern.
