Crafter's Edge Mask With A Pocket For Filter

With the Crafter's Edge Crossover II and Crafter's Edge Mask Die, making face masks are so easy.
You can also add a pocket to the back of the mask for a filter, too. I'll show you how!

I love using HeatnBond Sew-In interfacing as a filter, but there are lots of other choices.
Pick the filter that makes you feel the most comfortable and meets your standards of safety.

Directions come with the Face Mask Die and they are really easy to follow.
Run your fabrics/interfacing through the Crossover II Edge using the mask die.

I used three different fabrics for the mask to show the different layers.
You can use the same fabrics if you want to.

Sew the rounded edge of fabric mask pieces together following the directions.
Clip or use pink shears on curved edge. Press seams flat.

Fold over 1/4" twice on short end of pocket edges. Press. Top stitch close to edge.

Pin elastic to right side of mask lining, a quarter inch from edges.

Stitch a couple times over the elastic to secure them a little better.

Layer mask front, pocket, and lining as shown below.

Pin layers together making sure to catch all layers of fabric.
The pocket will be about a half inch from the shorter edges of mask.

Stitch around all edges with 1/4" seam making sure to catch all layers of fabric;
leave 1 1/2" to 2" opening for turning inside out.

Turn inside out, having pocket at the back and lining in the middle.
Fold edges of opening inside the mask. Press.

Top stitch close to edge around entire mask. Be sure to catch opening in stitches. If adding a
wire, tuck it up in top of mask now. Stitch 1/4" from top stitching to hold wire in place.

I used the second from the smallest mask die to create a filter from
HeatnBond Sew-In interfacing. Filters can be cut in other shapes if desired.

Tuck the filter between the pocket and lining. It can be removed and replaced as needed.

Having to wear a mask may not be fun, but wearing a mask made with Riley Blake Designs
"Tranquility" by Gerri Robinson of Planted Seed Designs can be a pleasure!

I think you'll love the Crafter's Edge mask die as much as I do!

Sun, Sand, And Sea BOM Begins Today...Block #1

Amy at Sew Incredibly Crazy had such a fun idea for this year's BOM and I'm loving it!
The Sun, Sand, and Sea BOM begins today with a beautiful sun to warm our souls.

This month's design is by Amy!

On the first day of each month a new block will be released. There's a Facebook page
for sharing the blocks you sew and to see what everyone else is up to.

Sew Incredibly Crazy and Friends Facebook page:

Lucky me, I'm using Riley Blake Designs Crayola solid colors for the entire quilt.
It makes me smile just looking at those cute boxes!

You can find the instructions for the February block at Sew Incredibly Crazy.

Tip: I like to use a light weight fusible interfacing on the back of my block to stabilize the fabrics
when I machine embroidery around the edges. Heat n Bond Fusible Interfacing is my favorite.

Summer Treats Quilt

I'm definitely an ice cream lover and I have to admit I don't eat it just in the summer.
That cold yummy stuff is a year round treat for me, especially if it is chocolate ice cream.
My dogs love it when I share the last of my sugar cone with them.

It looks like this pup is delighted with the ice cream drops...I would be, too!

Summer Treats

My friend, Barbara, did the quilting...love the cute little sun and
I added Deco Foil to give some shine to the ice cream.

Head over to the Therm O Web blog to see how I added the Deco Foil to the quilt...HERE.

It's A Spring Party Quilt And A Thermoweb Giveaway

Robin Williams was so right when he said, "Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's Party'!"
A garden full of flowers definitely looks like a party...don't you think so?

I'm over at the ThermOWeb blog today sharing this Spring Party Quilt and how to make it using

Plus, they are having a giveaway on their blog for an Oliso iron and Deco Foil HERE!
I love my Oliso iron!

Spring Party Quilt

Doesn't my purple Oliso look fabulous ironing that HeatnBond Fusible Interfacing in place!
I think having a purple iron makes pressing things so much more fun!

The interfacing ironed to the back of my embroidery fabric keeps threads from showing on front,
plus it's amazing how stable it makes the fabric when blanket stitching around applique.

I love, love, love to use SpraynBond for basting my quilts...no pins and so easy!

Making Old T-Shirts Into A Sweet Memory Quilt

Do you know someone (or maybe it is you) who is holding on to a treasured box of old t-shirts?
Well...it's time to drag them out and make an easy and memorable t-shirt quilt!
With graduations fast approaching, a t-shirt quilt would make a great gift.

I'm over at the ThermOWeb blog today showing you how I made this quilt.
I used Therm O Web's Heat N Bond Fusible Interfacing to stabilize
those stretchy t-shirts to make it easier to sew them all together.

Sweet Memories T-Shirt Quilt

The finished quilt measures 54" x 68" - finished blocks are 12" x 12"
The PDF instructions are on my Craftsy page HERE.

These t-shirts were my hubby's who had slowly been throwing away his old shirts, but for
various reasons couldn't part with some of these. He still has enough left to last him a lifetime!
Now he has this treasure and totally loves it!

He's been riding bikes FOREVER and has the scars to prove it.
(Let me just say there was one of the above t-shirts that had to have some major trimming
done to it to remove the blood stains from one of his overly adventurous bike rides.)
His right arm is even bleeding in the 2015 photo below, but he's still smiling!

Head on over to the Therm O Web blog to check out how to make a t-shirt quilt
and to get other amazing ideas for using their products in your sewing/paper projects.

Dresden Carnival In Rikstacket

C heck out the Summer 2026 R IKSTACKET quilt magazine that my friend, Britt-Inger, sent me  from Sweden. It was such a pleasure and an hono...
