My Day For The Fabulous Freebies Blog Hop

That Joan from MooseStash Quilting has the best sense of humor and usually has me laughing
as I read through her blog posts. She's such an amazing quilter and inspires me with her
creations. The Fabulous Freebies blog hop is her doing and I'm so happy to be a part of it.
Thanks, Joan, for the motivation to sew something using a free pattern!

One of my favorite go-to place for free patterns and tutorials is the
Missouri Star Quilt Company's videos with that cute teacher, Jenny.
She makes everything look so easy!

This is the video I used for my Fabulous Freebie project:

I made the Cheerio Quilt with a few less blocks than what was in this video.
Jenny's quilt has 42 blocks...mine has 20, making it more like a child's quilt.
Jenny's quilt has a 3" border around it...mine has 1" and 3" borders.
Her quilt and my quilt used 8" and 4" size circles. This pattern is very versatile!

The fabrics are Nest by Moda Boutique

Christmas Quilting In August

I feel like I'm late to the game by saying, "Christmas Quilting in August."
This was suppose to be one of those Christmas in July projects, but it didn't happen.
It might have been because I was lazy, busy, summer heat, and the other usual excuses.
But, now I'm off and sewing Christmas!

I have a thing about those Moda Jelly Rolls. If I see one on sale I feel the need to buy it.
Never mind what I'm going to do with it. It just calls my name and says, "BUY ME!"
I had a Countdown To Christmas jelly roll AND a pattern by Missouri Star Quilt Company.
Perfect combination!

There's a gazillion pieces in it and it will be big. I like big!
Here's that cute Jenny doing this quilt in a video:

The Garden Party Quilt Is Finished

It's amazing how a little pile of cut fabric...

...can be changed into something like this with just a little thread to connect the pieces.

My Garden Party Quilt is sitting on a big chunk of black lava rock near Santa Clara, Utah.
I had to be careful because the rock was sharp, but it didn't require anything to hold the quilt in place.
Between the winds and the roughness of the rock, the quilt just stayed where I put it.

The quilt is 52 1/2" x 63" and is mostly made with the Basic Grey fabric line, Sweet Serenade.
Quilting was done by those sweet ladies at Quilted Works.

The back of Garden Party.

I love the scalloped look in the border and the musical notes fabric on the back.

The pattern came from Missouri Star Quilt Company's tutorial HERE.

It's such a great feeling when a quilt is totally completed!

It's Summer Already?

It's already hitting 100 degrees here...ugh!
But, summer does mean more picnics, family outings, and
Monkey Boy time since they aren't in school.

We took the family on an outing to a nature park...it was so hot, but still fun.

This beauty greeted us near the entrance

Feeding the fowls in foul looking, green swampy water

I saw purple!

I had to take pics up close and didn't notice the bee at first. Yikes!

Time to go home

Since it's hot outside, staying inside isn't such a bad thing because it means sewing time!
Yesterday, Barbara from the quilting group in our neighborhood showed us a quick and easy way
to make one of Missouri Quilt Company's blocks, so of course I made one.
So easy! Jenny Doan has a You Tube video HERE for a Churn Dash Pinwheel Quilt.
Plus, it's in their magazine with really clear directions.

Now I just have to decide what direction I want to place the blocks.

I love the two different choices it gives me!

My little break is over, so back to sewing these cute and easy pinwheel blocks.

It's The Beginning Of A Garden Party

I love the sound of these words:

"Hi, I'm Jenny from Missouri Star Quilt Company."

It gets me all pumped up and ready to watch her video and learn something new.

What's that? Missouri Star Quilt Company now has a magazine?
Well, sign me up, of course!

The magazine was accidently delivered to a distant neighbor (seriously, Barbara lives several blocks away) who kindly hand delivered it to me. That visit led to going to a new quilt group led by her. At yesterday's meeting Barbara showed us a quilt she had started using a pattern from the magazine.

Not that I'm competitive or anything (okay, so maybe a little bit), but as soon as I got home
I grabbed the magazine and after looking through it I decided to make a quilt from it, too.

Garden Party Quilt

Wait!
How many one and a half inch squares do I have to
cut out...and sew...to charm blocks? 336? Wow!

This may take a while!

Dresden Carnival Goes To Sweden

I love Dresden quilts and this one was even more fun with a 48" center. Dresden Carnival 76" x 76" My friend in Sweden, Brit...
