Born To Be Wild Blog Hop And My Day

It has definitely been a wild week of fun! I love a good challenge and it was amazing to see the incredible projects that came out for the "Born to be Wild" blog hop. Thank you to all who participated and visited!

It is my turn to share my answer to the challenge and I decided to mimic the logo for this hop.

Pretty close and easy tracing thanks to EQ8!

Sewing all those little appliqued spots wasn't easy, but I think this guy turned out okay.

A funky and wild checked border seemed appropriate

I'm still learning the ins-and-outs of my longarm, but these pink grips have been great tools.

I found this so, so cute fabric at Sew Yeah quilt store and had to have it. There's still some fabric left, but I used a bit of it for a quick bag.

Seriously, you can't help but smile at these wild creatures in sunglasses.

The flowers in our backyard are looking beautiful right now!

I hope you've had a great week feeling the wild spirit of all who have shared projects. Please take the time to visit and leave a comment. It's a great way to make someone feel good!

This is one of the first quilts I started in 2009 and finished in 2011 using Laurel Burch fabric, "Secret Jungle." It is my favorite quilt and I use it everyday when I'm watching TV or working on my laptop. It is definitely wild! I struggled to find a backing for it because it has so many crazy colors in it.

Two years after finishing the quilt top I visited a Utah quilt store, Scrap Apple, in search of a quilt fabric for the back. Luckily I met a sales person, Linda Krepela, who helped me pick out the wild zebra fabric for the back. I wasn't sure about it, but it was perfect for it.

As the years went by I considered Linda my friend and we had a lot of laughs and serious discussions about mutual things in our lives. She was the queen of sewing demos and quilt classes! Linda died of Covid this year which broke a lot of people's hearts including mine. My quilt has more meaning than ever now.

Check out all my "Born to be Wild" friends!

  25. Hi Carol! {{Hugs}} I'm so sorry you lost your friend to COVID. So, so many losses that I can't help but wonder if things might have been different if only. What a wonderful memory you have in a tangible item to be used in your daily life. The picture made me smile just seeing all the different prints - it is SO YOU. The black and white zebra print really is perfect for it - wild and yet calm, too. The perfect balance for the wild prints. Love your Born to be Wild project, too. I can't help but sing that song in my mind whenever I see the title. Your yard looks gorgeous - I hope you are able to enjoy some time with your Monkey boys. They will help heal your heart. {{Hugs}} again. ~smile~ Roseanne
