Block Four Of Therm O Web's Halloween Sew Along

Today is the last day of Therm O Web's Halloween Chills and Thrills Sew Along.
They're releasing four blocks in four days and they are all free. On September 24th
there will be a project released to use the blocks. You can still get "Frankie", "The Count",
and "Wanda Witch" by visiting the Therm O Web blog HERE.

This guy is being released today and he looks a little excited and crazy about Halloween.
Meet "Peter Pumpkin" the last block in this sew along.
You can find him at the Therm O Web blog HERE.

Supplies I used:

Heat n Bond EZ Print Lite Sheets – You’ll love these for applique because they are so easy.
Just run the sheets through your inkjet printer and they are ready for ironing on your fabric.

Aurifil Thread – This thread is amazing for sewing. The applique blocks in these projects were
sewn using 28 wt thread, but 40wt or 50wt works, too. Use the 50wt thread for sewing seams.

Oliso Iron – The newest iron by Oliso is their Mini Project Iron.
It’s perfect for any ironing project!

With quite a few members of law enforcement in my past and present family,
Riley Blake Designs "Cops and Robbers" fabric by Shawn Wallace, totally rang my bell.
It has the cutest dog cops and dog robbers...love it! I went with the fabric designs
and created, "Caught Red Handed" to highlight several of those sweet fabrics.

My Favorite Quilt Block For The Blog Hop Is A Dresden

It's happening this week! The "My Favorite Quilt Block" blog hop will last all week and
thanks to Carla at Creatin' in the Sticks, it will be so fun. You rock my world, Carla!

My favorite block is a Dresden, though there was a time that I called it a "Dreaded Dresden"
because it looked so scary to make. Once I learned it wasn't hard to sew, I was in love.
One of my favorite versions is the Sunburst Dresden by Missouri Star Quilt Company.
It adds a little flare to a regular Dresden making it a bit more fun. I've created my own
version and sizes for several quilts, which is easy once you know how to make a Dresden.

I love those little sunbursts!

The fabrics were fat quarters I bought on sale at Quilted Works.
The rest of the fabrics were gathered from my stash.

Here's the video on making Jenny's version

Here's a few of my Dresden quilts (just to show I really do love a Dresden!)

This was my first Dresden

This was my second one...kind of scary embroidery on it, but I still love it.

You just have to check out these amazing "My Favorite Quilt Block" bloggers!

Once Upon A Story With Five Little Monkeys

It's time for another row along by Marian at Seams to be Sew.Thanks, Marian, for putting this
in motion and lining everything up! This time we're having fun with "Once Upon A Story"
of fairy tales, poems, and songs. I knew right away I'd be making something with the
"Five Little Monkeys" theme. Monkeys are kind of my thing!
My Monkey Boys love to jump on anything, including beds!

This block is unfinished at 30 1/2" x 30 1/2"

In case you don't know the song...

Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed

Five little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor And the doctor said
No more monkeys jumping on the bed

Four little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor And the doctor said,
No more monkeys jumping on the bed

Three little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor
And the doctor said,
No more monkeys jumping on the bed

Two little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor
And the doctor said,
No more monkeys jumping on the bed

One little monkey jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor
And the doctor said,
Put those monkeys right to bed

The fabrics I used were by Northcott who generously gave me one yard of fabric, which I used
for the background. It's Stonehenge Gradations #39382-12. Of course, I had to have more,
so I bought a bundle of this pretty fabric from the Fat Quarter Shop. The colors are amazing!

You can download the free block pattern HERE
