Monkey Boys Came To Visit...Nice!

My oldest daughters brought their nephews up to visit for a day.
Whoohoo!
Monkey Boy fun!
(No sewing for me, but I didn't care.)

We did a little walking in the red dirt

...and saw some strange creatures by some leftover snow!

It was a great day, but way too quiet around here when they left!

The Need To Sew Kona's

There have been so many amazingly creative Kona solid projects this week...
these blog hopping quilters are incredibly talented!
I just want to sew more and try out some of these new ideas.

Slight BIG problem, though.

My NEW  Bernina sewing machine (yes, I got a new toy for Christmas) needed to be fixed (UGH!)
and the shop was too busy so they couldn't fix it right away. I've been without a machine for
FOUR WHOLE DAYS!

Can you spell
w-i-t-h-d-r-a-w-a-l-s?

It "should" be fixed today...hopefully!

Oh, Robert Kaufman, your Kona's are so addictingly beautiful!

I'll have to settle for drooling over looking at everyone else's projects.
BIG SIGH...

I'm Just A Little Blue In The Face

I'm a little blue in the face from having to repeat myself.

"Why and what am I repeating" you ask?

Several gazillion bloggers, including me, ask and beg over and over that you make sure
you aren't a no reply blogger so we can respond to your comments on our blogs.
We honestly feel bad when we can't thank you for your kind words.

Maybe you don't know what we mean when we use the words
NO REPLY BLOGGER?

Normally, this is the chain of events that happen after you leave a comment:
When you leave a comment on my blog a copy of your comment goes to my email.
I open the email, read the sweet comment, and hit "reply" to answer your email.
After writing you a message, I then hit "send" and it is on its way to you.
Unless.....
you are one of the dreaded no reply bloggers and then it goes
no
where
at
all
because there is no email address included.
And you don't get to hear me tell you how wonderful you are.

Maybe you don't know you are a no reply blogger?
Well...
If you never, never, ever get a response to a comment you leave on my blog,
that would more than likely mean you are a no reply blogger.

Hmmm....Sometimes I track down no reply bloggers or I recognize the name and
have stored the email address so that might make them think they're okay.
Uh-oh! Maybe this enables them so they don't fix it?

Easy fixes:

~You can leave your email address in your comment. If you're nervous about spammers,
just write your email address like this: myemail at gmail dot com

~Fix your Google+ account. It's given a lot of us a headache because it made us
no reply bloggers without even knowing it.
Click HERE for a great link to fix this particular problem.

~Include your email address on your Google+ profile...that helps a little if I go searching for you.

~Make sure "show my email" is checked on your profile settings.

~Google "no reply blogger" to find an answer you like.

Please help me get some color (not blue) back in my face!

Wake Up To Kona Day One AND My Day

+ Two Extra Days (20th and 21st!)

What a great and amazing combination for a blog hop:

Amanda Murphy

Robert Kaufman Kona

Aurifil

AND

Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt!

Amanda Murphy's new book, Color Essentials, is just full of fun and creative ideas for quilts.

There are lots of really beautiful patterns.
Her directions are clear and precise.
The photos are gorgeous.
The ideas she shares are so helpful.
Whoa...am I gushing a little too much?
Well, so be it because I just loved her book!

In case you've never heard this from me before, I'm just awful at following patterns. With that little problem hanging over me, I took on the challenge and picked out one pattern from the book to follow exactly. Guess what...I did it!

~Iridescence~
"Make an easy, unique quilt using just one fat quarter bundle.
Change the background fabric to create a unique look."

I used my fat quarter bundle of Sunset Kona by Robert Kaufman...it was gorgeous!
The colors are so vibrant and the purple in it was a wonderful bonus for me.

Once my quilt top was finished, off it went to Quilted Works for them to do their beautiful work.
They used a geometric design and a very light purple thread.

Tada!

With some leftover pieces of fabric from the fat quarter bundle, I made a simple baby quilt and did some embroidery quilting on it using my machine's embroidery module. It was such a fun way to finish a quilt!

Look who else is hopping today...hurry, go check them out and see what they made with Kona!

Look what the sponsors shared for the Wake Up to Kona Blog Hop!

The Dresdenlie Ghastlie Quilt

Alright already!
I know that "Dresdenlie" is not a word, but it goes so well with "Ghastlie"!

Thanks for helping me get over my Ghastlie blues after Christmas
and leaving me all those funny and cool words.

With all those Ghastlie words making me laugh and giving me encouragement,
I finished this Dresden quilt top and will be backing it with black Minky.
It's waiting to be quilted, but until then this is it!

The Dresdenlie Ghastlie Quilt
The quilt is about 53" x 53"

The winner of my Feeling Ghastlie giveaway is

What's The Word?

My friend, Kim, got me started a few years ago choosing a yearly word that would mean something to me and cause me to focus on its importance. I love how Kim inspires me when I visit her blog! She shared a link to Ali Edwards' blog and her "One Little Word":

"A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything.
It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."

You can read Ali Edwards' original post from 2007 about "One Little Word" (go here to read that post) and the power of single words.

Plus, check out Woolie Mammoth's blog for her special word for the year...it's a great post!

While thinking of what word to focus on this year, I thought about how I've always been a glass-half-empty kinda gal, but this past year has seemed a little more like the-glass-is-empty. I retired, sold a house, moved, blah, blah, blah, and I think whatever was in my glass has almost disappeared. So to rid myself of a few negatives in my life, I'm going with this word for 2014:

Positive

I'll try to be more positive this year!

What word would you choose?

OH, AND...
Today's the last day (January 2nd) to enter my Feeling Ghastlie Giveaway...

AND ANOTHER AND...
Wake Up To Kona starts in just a few days!
(+ 2 extra days!)

I'm so excited!

Jeepers Creepers Is It Halloween Yet?

I sew a lot slower these days, but it is really a nice change. There were times I was whipping out 7-9 projects a month. Way too much! Now ...
