Riley Blake Designs' "So Ruby" Fabric Is Beautifully Red And White

Making a red and white quilt has been on my to-do list for a long time, so when I was asked
by Riley Blake Designs if I would sew something with "So Ruby" I was totally in! It's red,
it's white, and it's beautiful...it made my dream come true for a red and white quilt.

Ruby Rabbit's Garden
Finished size: 42" x 50"

"So Ruby" has a lot of variety in its red and white fabrics by Carina Gardner.

A little checkerboard look for Ruby Rabbit's Garden.

A ruffle is a sweet addition to this garden.

Fabric flowers and buttons...a great combination!

The flowers are easy and fast to make:

Cut five 3 ½” x 3 ½” squares for each flower.

Fold squares in half diagonally; press. Fold in half again diagonally; press.
Repeat to make five petals.

Using embroidery thread or a double strand of thread, sew a basting
stitch along raw edge of all five petals to join them.

Pull needle to gather thread and petals together into a circle.
Sew a small knotted stitch to join petals.
Stitch flower in place and sew a button over opening.

Here's the list of Riley Blake Designs "So Ruby" blog tour participants:

September 28 - Just Let Me Quilt - Me
October 5 - Jedi Craft Girl
October 12 - Why Not Sew?

You can find the entire "Ruby Rabbit's Garden" pattern in my Craftsy store HERE.

*Just a note about washing this quilt: Yes, I washed it before taking this picture. No, the colors
did not run because I threw a Shout Color Catcher into the wash with it. I love these sheets!
Prewashing red fabrics is usually a good idea, but I didn't do that. I put a lot of faith in these
sheets and have never had the dyes in a quilt run. Let's hope there's never a "first time", but so
far I'm happy using them! You can find them at grocery stores, Target, Walmart, and Amazon.

Wandering Camera In September

I did a lot of wandering this month, but not to any exotic locations.
Most of the time was spent near my home or with family.
Life was good this month!

It's been a very busy time in my quilting world...lots of projects happening!

There's was rainy weather, flash flooding, and flowing rivers near
a favorite restaurant with amazing views. They have yummy breakfast treats!

Then there was less water and more hot temperatures later in the month at the same location.

Some flowers will bloom no matter how hot it is. There's joy in that!

A birthday celebration brought the family together for good times.

Even at 14 years old, he's still a little boy at heart.

This little guy kept posing for the camera, dirty face and all...I love him tons!
I remember years ago overhearing a young couple with no children observe a small child
with a very dirty face and runny nose. They said when they had children they would
NEVER allow them to have a dirty face. I still laugh at how naive they were.
Kids almost ALWAYS have a dirty face and a runny nose and we love them anyway!

One day my sister and I happened upon this shack in our neighborhood.
We couldn't believe we'd lived here so long and never seen this!
I took my husband there to take photos of a sewing project and enjoyed
the adventure of looking around. There was no graffiti...surprise!

Thanks for stopping by today for a quick view of my September Wandering Camera.

Ms. Winifred's Closet Is A Laser Cut Kit At Quilted Works

I did a little shriek, eek, and oh-my-gosh when I saw Ms. Winifred's Closet made into a
laser cut kit at Quilted Works in different fabrics then I used. Then I saw it sewn together
and quilted...WOWZERS! They did an amazing job on it...love it!

If you'd rather use your own fabric and cut out the applique pieces,
you can find the pattern in my Etsy store HERE.

My quilt was made with Riley Blake Designs' "Cats, Bats, and Jacks."
I think they both look so fun!

Thank you, Quilted Works, for creating a laser cut kit for this!

It's My Day For The My Happy Place Row Along

It's another row along with Seams To Be Sew...fun!
Thank you, Marian, for all you did to put this together and arrange giveaways.
This time we had to create something that was "My Happy Place."
For me, there is nothing happier than being at home with my dogs and sewing.

You can find the pattern for my row at Just Let Me Quilt's Craftsy store HERE.

Northcott has generously sponsored us...thank you, Northcott! They were so kind
to send me one yard from the Canvas line by Deborah Edwards for my background.
I loved it so much I bought a fat quarter bundle to use for the applique.

Bruster, is the king of the house and loves to sleep under the covers...such a baby!

Bella is scared of everything, but she'll sound like she's going to eat you if you visit.

Marian at Seams To Be Sew did a great job getting this row along going.
Thanks, Marian!

There are so many amazing rows this year...check them out!
