Bowls With Borders And Other Stuff

For those of you who were among the just under 170 people to sign-up for the Bowls With Borders Blog Hop, this is for you:
  • I still have a few people who haven't responded to let me know they got the pattern from Regina. If you haven't let me know, please email me as soon as possible.
  • Yes, you can stack as many bowls as you want. One, two, or one hundred! They are your bowls so stack them up until you're happy.
  • Yes, you can enlarge the pattern or make it smaller.
  • Yes, you can make them any color of fabric you want.
  • Yes, you can stack them tall, sideways, even upside down if you want to.
  • If you have a blog, make sure they show-up there on your posting day.
  • If you don't have a blog and I'll be posting your pics on That Other Blog, make sure you get them to me at least 2-3 days earlier than your post date. A week early would make me really happy and I'm nicer when I'm happy!
  • No, I won't have a tutorial--I'm just learning to paper piece, so you wouldn't want me to show you how-to do it. There are lots of methods out there in Internet land that should help you along.
  • Yes, you should probably start sewing the bowls as soon-as-possible because they are just so darn cute!
For those of you that missed being able to sign-up,
Regina Grewe's pattern for the bowls can be purchased
HERE.
She has some other beautiful patterns that can also be purchased
and even some for free--check them out!
It's hot outside--a dry heat, of course--and I've avoided going outside as much as possible. Since I've been forced to stay inside, I've been working on blog hop stuff. I stopped sewing on my bowls, because my time is coming up for the Think Christmas blog hop and I didn't want to wait too long and then be freaking out at the last minute. (I only freak out occasionally and it's not pretty, trust me.)

It was hard to set the bowls aside (I love them!),
but now I'm having a great time sewing on Christmas stuff.
July 30th is my posting day
--the hardest part of a blog hop is having to wait to show your creations.

The Red, White, and Blue Blog Hop is still going on--amazing stuff to see at these places today:

I'm Hopping All Over The Place!

My Red, White, and Blue blocks were sewn and posted at Jane's blog hop on time. Yay! More going on over there so be sure to go look.
August 13-28th - Bowls With Borders preparations progressing nicely; emails sent to all. Sewing has begun! Found just the fabric I was looking for and bought it. Uh, yeahhhh, I was going to use some of my stash, but then I saw something else and had to buy it, of course.
I think there is something besides RWB and bowls going on. Let me think....

Oh, yeah!
My giveaway! Go HERE to enter--it ends July 18th!

Wait! Is there more? Oh, yeah there's more!

I have two quilts almost ready for pick-up.
Exciting!

More?

Something about Christmas....Hmmm.....let me THINK...

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas...

July 30th rings a bell...a Christmas bell, I think.
The bowls will just have wait, which is hard because they are so cute!

It's over a hundred degrees here, but I've
got Jingle Bells hopping through my head.
Gotta love it!

She's hosting this event and doing a sparkling good job of it.

AND
Don't forget to enter my giveaway

I Have Bowls In My Head

It's all Madame Samm's fault, you know. I was never that interested in paper piecing--too hard, too much work, too confusing, too just about everything. And then I saw those dang bowls on her blog. What's that you say? A blog hop making those cute little bowls? Why, YES, of course I want in. Oh, yeah, I was in. I love them and I love sewing them! Regina Grewe shared her pattern for those who joined in the hop (thank you, thank you) and now all I think about are bowls (mixed in with Christmas hopping ideas, too.)

The bowls are starting to stack up and the
good thing is....I don't have to wash them! LOL!
Just a little peek

Happy 4th of July America!

RWB Blog Hopping and Giveaway!

and today is
MY DAY!
Thanks for stopping by!

I made five 10 1/2 inch blocks with mostly 1 1/2 inch strips and just sort of freehanded and created each block as I went along.
I used the five blocks to make a tablerunner, but
I added some tabs on the back so I can hang it if I want to.
These 12 1/2 inch blocks were made with the patterns/methods
I learned from Amy Gibson on her BOM class at Craftsy.
Lots more blocks to make before this one is done.
THEN.....
I received my Electric Quilt Design Wizard software in the mail and moved on to other shiny and interesting blocks. I loved that the program was easy to move around in and had some fun paper-piecing patterns. The design I created looked like this in the program:
These are the paper pieced blocks:
I put all those paper pieced blocks together
to get this:

A HUGE THANKS to Jane and Madame Samm for
organizing this blog hop!
Loving it!

NOW FOR THE GIVEAWAY!
(actually TWO giveaways)
One "Happy H'owl'-o-ween" Charm Pack
 to TWO different winners
Contest has ended!

Just A Little Chaos, But There Was Fun Too

I've been pretty busy the last few days with the Bowls With Borders Blog Hop, but I did take some time out to run pick-up a couple quilts that were finished (thanks Quilted Works!) Once things quiet down, I'll be adding some binding and then deciding who's going to get them. There's a new grandbaby on the way, so guess which one will go to him/her?

The minky is so soft and I love the swirly quilting!
The back
I love this face!
This one was fun to put together--kind of mish-mashy
Love the fabric on the back!

Liebster Award

Chrissie D. sent me a Liebster Award--how nice is that! No one knows where this thing started, but it is a nice way to acknowledge smaller blogs. Thanks, Chrissie!

Yoohoo! A Little Update Here!

Due to the overwhelmingly wonderful response to the Bowls With Borders Blog Hop, we are making the cut-off date a little sooner than planned. We will not be accepting any more participants as of right now. Sorry! We'd love to have more, but right now we're well over 160 and need to cut it off somewhere. Thanks for your incredible response--we can't wait to see all those amazing projects!

Bowls With Borders Blog Hop-Update

Update: We've had such an incredible response from people all over the world (well over 100!) to participate in our Bowls with Borders Blog Hop, so we've added a few extra days to fit everyone in. It just gets more and more exciting by the minute!

AND there's now a button! Whoohoo!
Go head over to see Madame Samm and pick-up that cute little thing.

Madame Samm at SewWeQuilt has shown her creative side, AGAIN, and come up with a fun blog hop for us...AND...I get to host it! Wow!

Check out her blog for photos of her Bowls With Borders project (it's amazing, of course) and then come join in and play with us!

(Check for German translation below)

Send me an email letting me know you want
to play (my email address is over there on the right.)

I'll will start posting a list of participants on June 30th to
let you all know the day you'll need to have your bowls
ready to serve-up on your blog (or my blog), but
you have until July 7th to send me an email saying you
want to play with the rest of us bowl-crazy quilters.
We reached our limit, so watch for the link to
buy the pattern from Regina.

The Bowls With Borders will start popping up
on the blogs from
August 13th to August 21st.

The free pattern for these little bowls will be available ONLY to those who participate in the blog hop and will be emailed to you after July 1st by Regina, the designer of these cute bowls. Regina makes beautiful paper piecing patterns and has so graciously let us use the bowl pattern for free (if you play along with us.) Thanks, Regina!

Those of you who just want to watch the fun and/or sew later will be given the link to the designer of these cute bowls on July 1st and you can purchase the pattern directly from her.

You want to join in the Bowls With Borders but don't have a blog? No problem! Just let me know you want to play and I'll post your bowls right here. Just let me know and we'll work out the details.

Ready to play? I am!

Regina so kindly translated this into German:

Kein Problem! Melde Dich an mit „I have no blog“ und Deine Bilder werden ersatzweise hier veröffentlicht werden. Details später.
Bereit für ein Spiel? Ich bin’s!

AND...Madame Samm created a little bowl just for me.
Thank You!
