In The Middle Of Chaos...

...thank goodness for my sweet Monkey Boys.

He's not only the best big brother, but he's also
an amazing helper. His younger brother is so awesome, too!.
They carried oodles of boxes down the stairs tonight
with no complaints. I just love those boys!

There are just 20 days until we move!
There are lots and lots of boxes marked "sewing room."
Where did all this fabric come from?

Me, Batiks, and Bobby McGee


These past few weeks of sewing with batiks has had me hearing Janis Joplin's husky voice singing
"Me and Bobby McGee" and I've been chasing Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" in my sleep. 

It's been a real trip sewing on these things!

All of these songs and batiks sent me down memory lane thanks to

Mary of I Piece 2-Mary (she's our far out cheerleader)

So...off we go with a "Jumpin Jack Flash" to see what I made with batiks:

Fabric Postcards And Batiks

I received this yesterday from Vickie...what a cool idea for a thank you note!

I think I need more fabric postcards to fill this space (and yes, I need
more clothespins to make them all look cute, cute, cute!)

I'm Not A Slug...I'm Not, I'm Not, I'm Not!

I'm not a slug, really, I'm NOT!

I've been...
cleaning
babysitting
AND
sewing, sewing, sewing those beautiful batiks
while singing to the oldies (in my head, of course...don't 
want to scare the neighbors by singing out loud.)

Gotta love these songs that are playing in my head on a continuous loop...

Batiks (and Brownies) Are So Far Out!

In the 60's I was just a kid who was into the Beatles, The Monkees, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Sonny and Cher, and Herman's Hermits. I wore jeans, buffalo sandals, and t-shirts most of the time and sewed all my own clothes, including this little dress I'm wearing with Frank in 1968.

I never put flowers in my hair or smoked "funny things", but I knew some people who made those brownies that had a little "something" in them. I also never sewed anything with batiks. 

Well guess what...that's going to change! Batiks are coming in a week or so and I've been busy sewing away with some far-out batiks that are so cool and out-ta-sight!


As for the brownies, I always use a package mix (Ghiradelli is my favorite) because I have yet to find a homemade brownie recipe I like. Do you have a favorite homemade brownie recipe you'd be willing to share with me?...(without the "funny stuff" in them, of course!) I like them chewie on the inside and a little crunchy on the top.

I think Frank is kind of excited about the hop that will be starting on October 22nd. 
I'm excited, too!

Jeepers Creepers Is It Halloween Yet?

 I sew a lot slower these days, but it is really a nice change. There were times I was whipping out 7-9 projects a month. Way too much! Now ...
