I Like Thursday With Not Afraid Of Color

Lee Anna at Not Afraid of Color has weekly posts on Thursday, along with other bloggers, sharing "likes" in their lives. I love reading all the "likes" but I'm terrible about sharing mine. I'm more of a once-in-a-while I Like Thursday poster. And I'm usually late posting. Sorry Lee Anna!

I feel like this should be more of a like-hate post. We've been having lots of repairs and updates on the new house, so it's hard to get excited about all the dust. But it is nice to see things coming together. I love my new house and know I will love it more when it is fixed a bit.

We had the inside painted before we moved in and the outside will get painted in a week or two. This is definitely a fixer upper house, but it had some really good qualities like shutters and crown molding.

I like that they cut down the countertop to one height. It had some ugly and thick tile on the bar and back splash, and the countertop was damaged. It's gone...yay! The tile floor is going, too. It's about 17 years old and has quite a few loose tiles. This is a picture from the previous owner's sale promotion. That's not my pic on the wall.

I really like how this will look when it's done...a new sink, too! No pictures, but we replaced fans and lights in some rooms. The old ones were really gross!

I like (love) the new countertops and flooring that will be installed.

Sewing has been interesting through all this. I actually missed a deadline. GASP! That was a first for me and I didn't LIKE it. This was a combo project for ThermOWeb and Crafter's Edge.

I like living closer to my family. Utah was beautiful, but family is better. Nevada has online classes for school because of Covid. My daughter is a superwoman coordinating five school age kids and their online schedules. Plus, her husband is a teacher trying to work through the online curriculum. Crazy!

Their house is small so my daughter is really working miracles getting them educated. I help a little by taking Monkey Baby (who just turned 3!) so she can focus on the five and seven year old boys. The older three do their own thing without much help.

I like that he is a good snuggler and loves to sit next to me while watching Netflix or reading a book with me. Not so happy that I took his picture, though. LOL

I like Halloween. Actually, I like it a lot! Joan from Moosestash Quilting and I started a Facebook page with just Halloween sewing things. I'm loving it! Joan is as crazy about Halloween as I am, so we're a great team. It's called Cackling Stitches...we'd love to have you join if you're into Halloween.

I Like Thursday And Other Stuff

Lee Anna at Not Afraid of Color has weekly posts on Thursday, along with other bloggers, sharing "likes" in their lives. I'm always impressed at how dedicated those bloggers are at posting each week. As for me, I'm not so impressive about posting my "likes" often, but it doesn't mean I don't love reading them!

I like that we have lots of these critters climbing our fence out back and in our entry way in the front. They keep the bugs away so I'm happy to have them!

I like that my oldest daughter is a big adventurer and that she's always looking for ways to better herself. This is her on the beach and she added these words that are so true! Love her!

I like to sew (no surprise there) and feel so lucky that I get to sew fun projects for Riley Blake, ThermOWeb, and Crafter's Edge.

I like (love) these scissors and have several pairs of them sitting around my sewing room. They are heirloom scissors by BambooMN. They are a nice weight and not too small, not too big.

I like that my husband plants flowers to make the yard look pretty. This is a new one in our backyard. It's pretty hot here (it was 111 degrees a couple days ago) so I'm so happy there are flowers that love the heat.

I like these sheets for when I wash my quilts for the first time. I don't know about you, but I've had that horrifying thing happen where the colors all bled into each other. It's awful!

I like to lip read I guess. I posted this on my Facebook page after having two conversations with store clerks. It seems we all lip read more than we realize because a lot of people can't hear when wearing a mask.

I like celebrating holidays with family, but this year we had some sick Monkey Boys and their mom so we kept a big distance from them. Social distancing is awful when I see these faces...I need hugs!

I like seeing the Monkey Boys get older, but sometimes it is happening too fast. This guy is old enough to light fireworks now? Noooooo

I like Beaquilters pincushion swap. This cutie came all the way from Mania Hatziioannidi in Greece. It took it's time, though, and had us worried it was lost because of my moving or the virus mail issue. A little bird on wheels is pretty fun!

I like my sewing retreats with friends. We did the social distancing thing, but it was so nice to get together! Pineapple drinks were a yummy bonus.

I like Monkey Baby time. He fell asleep in my bed...I loved it! That's a little chocolate on his cheek from grandma treats.

Thanks for stopping by! If you get a minute, go check out Lee Anna's blog and visit the others who take the time to look for "likes" in their lives.

I Like Thursday And Other Stuff

Life has been really up, down, and crazy lately, hasn't it!
Sometimes it's hard to find the good in things and people, but thankfully we keep trying.
Lee Anna at Not Afraid of Color has weekly posts on Thursday, along with other sweet
bloggers, sharing "likes" in their lives. I thing we all need to stop and look for those likes!

I like...
My new home. Old home, but new to us, anyway.

We moved, twice, since March. Of course, it had to be in the middle of the Covid 19
pandemic...ugh. The first move took us from Utah to a small condo near Las Vegas.
Two days after the move we were asked to stay home. That meant not being around
our grandsons because we're in that risky age factor thing.

What we thought would be just a couple weeks turned into months. Looking for a home
when people don't want to let you in their house to see it was quite challenging.
Luckily, we found one we liked and the paperwork began, almost all of it online.

Combining two households and some of my mother-in-law's things was quite a
challenge. We have way too much stuff! Unfortunately, the donation spots all closed
because of the virus, so that was another challenge. I'm now down to just four
colanders instead of 10, two sets of silverware instead of six. Furniture was in
abundance, too. Luckily, the people who bought our house in Utah took a lot of it.

I like...
My family!

Before the move, they threw me a surprise birthday party at the condo.
We observed proper social distancing but this was so good for all of us after almost two
months of not being together. Pizza, salad, and donuts for dessert...it was awesome!

They've been so helpful with the move and we couldn't have done it without them.

They make me smile even when I'm totally exhausted from moving!

I like...
My new sewing room and cabinets.

There's still a lot of work to be done in this room and I've been crawling over boxes
to sew masks and quilts, but it's getting there. It has horrible lighting though!

I like...
My backyard.

There's a lemon tree.

Typical desert landscaping with a pine tree and a palm tree together.

There's a wagonwheel.

It even came with Rolladen shutters. We're ready for the zombies or apocalypse!

 I like...
My friend, Cynthia, has survived the Covid virus.

She had been in the hospital since March with it and just went to rehab this week.
It was up and down for her, but she kicked it...yay! I don't just like this fact, I love it!

I like...
YOU!

Thank you for being a part of my blogging life!
Stay safe, healthy, and be creative.

I Like Thursday 1/16/20 With Not Afraid Of Color

It's I Like Thursday today thanks to LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color.
To see other "likes" check out her blog and the other bloggers who play along.
I really like using "I Like Thursday" to catch up on a few photos besides quilts.
When I miss a week (or two) I have quite a bit of catching up to do.

I like looking through old photos.

While I was decluttering/organizing things, I ran across a couple photos that made me laugh.
This one was the day my daughter and son-in-law opened presents from their wedding in 2004.
This deep fat fryer was a gift from a German couple that I had been helping.
The gift was not in a box and was roughly wrapped. It was also obviously a re-gift.

I'm not being ungrateful at all. Re-gifting is not a bad thing.
But, what was funny/not funny is that this fryer was from the 1970's and even had
a fabric wrapped cord. The original instructions in it were really funny.
The couple who gave it to them had a lot of money so this was really cheap of them.

The laugh we had was the best gift of all!

There was this photo that showed up. He's 15 now and still looks like this sometimes. LOL

I like what's coming later.

I finally gathered up some of the old movies and sent them in to be processed.
I can't wait to see them!

I like my pressure cooker.

I bought it about four years ago, used it a few times, and it went to the
"I had to have it, used it, and now it goes to the back" cupboard.
I pulled it out to use it again and I'm so glad I did.

This pork roast was so delicious!

I like the random photos and videos my daughter sends me of the Monkey Boys.

They were waving and saying, "Hi Grandma." Of course, it melted my heart!

I like hanging out and sewing with my friends.

I had a two day retreat at my house with a couple of my friends.
We had a blast! They needed occasional nourishment, of course.

I like quiet moments.

I posted this quilt last week and really love it.
The time photographing was especially sweet.
It was a quiet park and I enjoyed the moments.

I like designing quilts and quilt blocks.

I'm one lucky lady that I get to design projects for ThermOWeb, Riley Blake Designs, and
the newest one, Crafter's Edge. I love these fabric dies and how thin they are.

February 1st starts our new "Words To Grow By" with Sew Incredibly Crazy.
One of my blocks will have "FAITH" on it. I'm in love with this BOM already!

I like, but don't like, making pincushions for Bea Quilter's pincushion swap.

I don't like it because I'm not really good at it. Pincushions are so small
and I like to make big things. I do like the ones I get from the ladies involved.
I do like how sweet the ladies are, too!

I received this one from Holly. Don't you just love the stitching she used!

I sent this one the other day. She might have it by now, but if not...sorry that I'm showing it!

I like when my sister at Food Storage Moms tests out food and products.

She brought us some caramel corn in two different popped corn.
I love the softer ones on the right, though they were both delicious!

I like auctions for good causes.

Mr. Domestic had an auction to help out the people and animals in Australia.
I got the winning bid on some of these very cool scissors from LDH.

I like to write things and I like my soapbox.

Thanks, LeeAnna, for sparking our likes and getting us to share them!
