The Fire, The Web, And The Row-A-Long

There are lots of fires happening around the country, but luckily we hadn't had one close to us.
But, now we do and it's not a fun sight. God bless those firemen working on it!

It's not close enough to be a danger to our home, but close enough that we can see it out our window.
We took a drive up the hill for a better view...so sad to see all the smoke and flames!

It's a little smoky outside, but not enough to stop me from exploring my yard while it was still cool.

There's still some straggler tomatoes hanging on...and yucky tomato worms, too.
I caught my Bruster playing with a huge one. No pics because it was disgusting!

I'm always intrigued by spider webs and this one was no exception.
It was woven tight enough that it was holding water from the morning sprinklers.
I have no idea what spider created this (and I don't WANT to know.)

As for quilty things, I've been sewing everyday to get ready for the EQ7 Seasons Row-A-Long, the
Dog Gone Cute and Halloween Haunts blog hops. Whew...busy but fun!

Terrible pics, but these are some of the rows I created from the designs from the RAL.
Those ladies are amazing with these creations...love them!
My ants are taking food TO the basket. They are so kind and generous!
Gotta laugh at my silly sewing mistakes (just so you know, I make MANY mistakes so I laugh a lot.)

This is one I've started working on. Very patriotic and so, so summer.

You should join in the fun!
You pick and choose which rows you like and then you create your own quilt or whatever.
Each blog will have PDF's and tutorials, so be sure to check them out!
Lots and lots of giveaways at each blog, too!

These rows are on the blogs and ready for you to start sewing.

Have A Heart Quilt

I've finished my quilt, Have A Heart, by adding a scalloped border.
It needs some quilting and binding and then it will be a sweet treat to wrap up in.

Have A Heart

It's was such a fun and happy quilt to make!
I need to make a more "manly" one for a sweet family member who is quite ill.
He's in my family's heart and he needs to know that we love him. Maybe reds and blacks?

Here's a little snippet from my row for the Row-A-Long in September.
It's paper pieced and made with Northcott's fabulous Artisan Spirit fabric.

My row is simple compared to some of the other amazing designers. Their rows will wow you!
Plus, lots and lots of giveaways have been donated by so many sponsors thanks to
Marian at Seams to be Sew and her hard work at putting this blog hop together.
My monsters multiplied and began to be stuffed by some nice ladies who even sat through
my class on freezer meals. It was such a fun night with lots of service projects going on.

I found some HUGE zucchinis in my garden...wowzers! Luckily I picked them before the skin got
too tough and they got all seedy. I ended up with 10 bags of shredded zucchini to put in the freezer.
They'll be great in muffins, breads, and spaghetti sauce. Yum!

My sister shared some of her overgrown plants and now our yard is looking pretty amazing.
We weren't sure they'd survive transplanting them in the summer heat,
but they were tough and made it. Even the rose bush made it. Yay!

Take time to smell the roses and of course, sew!

Dr Seuss And Ribbon Candy Elephants

I bought Ribbon Candy Quilt Company's pattern, "Abby's Elephant Party," last week
so while hanging out with the Monkey Boys I drew the 48 elephants and 48 ears on fusible web,
ironed them on to some Dr. Seuss fabric I had in my stash, and then cut, cut, cut!
There was definitely an elephant party going on and a little Horton Hears A Who in my thoughts!

I've appears that I've become crazy in love with making elephant quilts!
That's not such a bad thing, especially when those elephants are as cute as these!

My first zucchini squash from my garden!
After being gone a week it was almost too big, but I think it will make some excellent
zucchini bread or I'll stuff it with something yummy and bake it.

My Seam Ripper Is Having Way More Fun Than Me

After realizing that my seam ripper was having way too much fun tearing out seams, I decided I
needed a short break from sewing. I also thought my ripper needed a little rest from working so hard.
Seriously, I was ripping more than sewing. Aaaargh!

Yes, that's my favorite ripper enjoying some sun in my garden of squash.
Those squash plants are so small, but hopefully they will grow up big and strong.

These flowers hover over my garden and bring the bees. I love bees!

There's one!

And another!

This one was giving me the eye so I backed off a little.

No word on my vintage Singer...darn! I decided to sand and refinish the cabinet.
It had a couple other layers of staining on it, but hopefully I can get it to look okay.

While my ripper was enjoying a holiday, my hubby took me to a What Women Want convention.
What a guy and so brave to walk around with all those women!

Picked up this wreath for my door...even the hubby liked it.

This quilt is what had my ripper a little busy this week.
Some points didn't meet perfectly and that 5" paper pieced star argued a little, too.
Sewing the blocks on point caused a little confusion for me my ripper,
so there might have been a row or two that had to get ripped out.

I hope to keep my ripper a lot less busy this week and actually get some sewing done!

Keeping Up With The Snapshot Quilt Along

I'm totally shocked that I've managed to keep up with the Snapshot Quilt Along.
I thought by now I'd be so far behind I'd have given up, but I'm all caught up!

The apron's done!
I made it in black since that's the color of the apron I usually wear.

The other blocks

I had to hussle to get a pic of the apron because dark clouds were trying to hide the sun.

The flowers were loving the little bit of sunshine, too.

My purple pepper is coming along, though it is all alone on the vine.

Jeepers Creepers Is It Halloween Yet?

I sew a lot slower these days, but it is really a nice change. There were times I was whipping out 7-9 projects a month. Way too much! Now ...
