I'm posting over on the Therm O Web blog today where I'm sharing my
No Worms Allowed oversized pot holder. I promise there are no worms!
I love BIG potholders to hold those roasts, casseroles, cakes, or pies after
they come out of the
oven. This oversized potholder measures 14” x 14” which was perfect for holding my apple pie.

I’m not good at making pie crusts, so years ago when my mother-in-law shared her
Swedish Apple Pie recipe with me I jumped for joy. It doesn’t involve a rolled crust…yay!
The pie is topped with a dough like crust that gets spread across the chopped apples.
It’s sugary delicious and even better with a little ice cream or whipped cream on top!
(Yes, I know it is full of sugar and butter...not a dessert to eat everyday.)
JOAN’S SWEDISH APPLE PIE
4 (or more) apples, peeled & diced
Press down in bottom of pie plate.
1 Tbs. sugar
1 Tbs. Cinnamon
Mix together and sprinkle over the apples.
1 1/2 stick
butter, melted
1 1/2 cup sugar
Pinch of salt
1 1/2 cup flour
1 egg
1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Mix all ingredients together. Spread mixture over the apples. (It will be thick.)
Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
(This can be prepared in a 9 x 13 pan--just
adjust the ingredient amounts.)

Okay, I am gonna make this pie. I like big pot holders too, I like them as hot pads for the counter tops and so many other uses, like tossing around the room like Sarah does.

That is so cute and the pie looks and sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteHow appealing they are (no pun, really!), even the worm. The pie sounds great, sort of like pie with cake on top!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is sooooo cute!!! And the pie sounds and looks delicious!! xx
ReplyDeleteI make something very similar called Eve's Pudding. Thank you for sharing the recipe, I will give that a try too. Your pot holder made me smile. They are a lovely bunch :)
