I Just Wasn't Feeling That Cake At All

I tried to like that other cake, really I did! I didn't hate it, but I just wasn't feeling the fabrics.
Staring at it, thinking about it and walking away from it didn't help.
Even my daughter said it "didn't look like something I would make."
Sometimes using fabric from my stash works out, sometimes not.

So...it had to go. I may still do something with it later.

Anyway...

I switched it up and decided I needed to sew something that made me feel good.
Black and red fabrics do that for me. So I'm using Moda's El Gallo now and I like it better.

I'm looking forward to making the other blocks.
Now it's time to move on and finish the Elephant Parade.

  1. Love your remade block, and the sewing machine too. Sometimes when you really don't love it you get bogged down. Shopping stash can be hard.

I did a sew along last year and used black, white and red fabrics. it is a snowman quilt. I need to get that thing finished!

  6. I really like both of the cakes but I understand when it just doesn't sit right with what you had in mind. Since this is a series of patterns, it's best to start off on the right foot. Love the sewing machine.... I may want to make a whole quilt with just machines. This BOM is just so cute!

  10. I think both are wonderful. I understand what you mean though. Something can be lovely and still not be you. For me, I like the second one just a bit better. Good fabric choices. Your sewing machine block looks 'fab'.

  15. You are spot on for this one. It does look so much better. Smiling because my mind immediately thought up a different post title for this like: El Gallo does the gâteau! Or gâteau by El Gallo! lol
