Madame Samm of Sew We Quilt and Mary from I Piece 2-Mary have totally kept us all in stitches.
Cross stitches that is!
With beautiful designs by Brooke Nolan and Cori Blunt, we've all come together for
this blog hop to show how stitchy we can be when adding their creations to a Tammy Bag or a pinny.
It's been such fun learning this counted cross stitching thing that Madame Samm
promised me was relaxing. It really has been...after a few learning hiccups here and there.
With the right tools, even I was able to cross stitch.
Just don't look close! I've learned that I'm not so good at counting which means there
are a few stitches that aren't there that should be or are there but shouldn't be.
Seeing those little tiny holes was a must, so I bought three pairs of glasses from Readers.com.
Two reading and one pair of reading sunglasses. In a moment of rushing to clean up my sewing
room, I threw out the mailer they had arrived in WITH ALL THREE PAIRS STILL IN THERE!
Slap my head...I thought it was empty! I was sick about it!
Luckily, another gorgeous pair arrived a week later and I was back to work on my project.
Whew!
I stitched like crazy and actually loved it!
Then there the magnets...couldn't have done it without them, either!
They held the paper pattern and needles just perfectly in place.
You can find them at Ms. Appleheart's Shoppe.
Once I finished the cross stitching, it was off on an outing with my hubby to take pics.
I had so much fun taking photos of these little bags!
Cori's pinnies are adorable!
I tried my hand at turned under applique...not pretty..so I embroidered the little bird to create mine.
This Tammy Bag has some angora thread on it, but it washed out in the photo.
Trust me, it was a beautiful touch to the stole on this bag!
I added a zippered pocket to the back of this one. I love those scalloped zippers!
With quick trip away from "Dixie" to a warmer climate, I made this bag, too.
I love those DMC purples!
Shall we just say this blog hop has been one big learning adventure for me!

Wonderful! Such beautiful stitching too. You've got it girl. Zipper on a Tammy bag is a great idea. I know nothing about scalloped zippers though.

ReplyDeleteYou made THREE! THREE! Amazing! They all look gorgeous. I love the colours, especially the vibrant blue and the beautiful purples. Loving the sewing machine shaped magnet. What a fantastic idea! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWow Carol. You really jumped into stitching with both feet, er, hands. Wonderful job! And no one notices an errant stitch or two. They are just beautiful.

ReplyDeleteYour bags are all beautiful, with perfect fabric choices for each!
ReplyDeleteCarol you always wow me! I love, love that zipper - I never would have thought of adding that but it's perfect. And your strap - I'm wondering where you got it? I used a little angora too but it didn't show up in the picture either. It's beautiful in person though. :) I would have been totally sick about those Readers! I love mine and am planning to order some sunglasses for this summer. blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bags, Carol! I'm wondering if you're hooked on x-stitching now. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a zipper like that, love it ! That is a wonderful area to take your Tammy pictures ! For a first time CCSer, you did wonderful work !
ReplyDeleteWow Carol!! like everyone said...the zipper is so very neat!! I also love that little sewing machine thingy in your picture.
ReplyDeleteTalk about jumping in the deep end! Wow. That is impressive. I love all your colour choices. Your workmanship sure doesn't look like you just learned. Great photos too.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the readers. Just imagine three seagulls at the local dump searching for yummies-wearing your readers-and keep smiling.
You've done a fantastic job of these Tammys! I can't pick a favourite!! Too bad about the glasses though "(
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, you are the bomb! You cross stitched THREE bags! Wow! And ding, dang, darn about the readers. That's something I would do.
ReplyDeleteOk, Let me just say, I didn't expect THREE BAGS in THREE DIFFERENT CLIMATES...YOU WIN!!!
ReplyDeleteGmama Jane
LOVE that purple one!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm impressed - you made 3 so fast? I've barely had time to finish one!! :-) Congrats on all 3 3 lovely finishes!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would say that you were a great "student" with those three gorgeous Tammy bags. Your fabric choices are wonderful and I love the zippered pocket! I loved seeing the results from your photo shoot getaway.
ReplyDeleteWow you accomplished a lot for this blog hop! I love all the bags and you certainly do now have a Tammy for ALL seasons :) Glad I had a chance to visit your blog for this hop!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...I really like the strap on your Tammy too :) You have been so busy!
ReplyDeleteThree bags and you say you are new at this?! You made fast work of it. Great job on all... I surely don't see the goofs that you talk about. They all look lovely. So sorry about the readers...ouch!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I can't believe you made three of them! Beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteI love all those Tammy bags. I didn't know about the angora thread. Sounds like it would be perfect for a santa beard too but in white. I am glad to see the cross stitch again as I used to work on that and put it aside for quilting. I hope to give it a try again.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Your bags are all gorgeous - all 3 of them! And, I love the zipper pouch in the back.
ReplyDeleteThe very dear family friend that taught me to cross-stitch when I was in high school once told me that unless I specifically pointed out my cross-stitch mistakes to someone, it was unlikely they would ever find them. Your cross-stitching is all lovely! I do hope you enjoyed your first projects. From the lovely way they turned out, I would guess you did! Wonderful work.
I am cross stitching at this moment also and it is so relaxing for me. My troubles just blow away; the purses are outstanding.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, Carol, you really rock. I mean, you did finish !!!! 3 tammy bags as a beginner like me, that is just incredible. Well, I nearly also threw my Readers aways because they were so tightly packed in my Monaco fabrics, I did not feel them until I really opened everything, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI don't know which bag I like most, but I tend to crack for your Winter one, with this exquisite back..... Well done, so which x-stitch Project are you stitching next?????
(((Carol))) I can't believe you were able to do THREE! They're all so gorgeous. I absolutely love the black glove and the black plaid for Winter. Love the infusion of purple in the Spring Tammy and adore the aqua colors of Summer. Thank you SO much for participating in this hop and for stitching my designs. Happy Stitchy New Year! Brooke ; )
ReplyDeleteLovely bags Carol! Can't believe you did all three! Holy Moley.... it took me the whole month of December to do one! I will say that I did complicate it up a bit though, just wait til you see it. I probably could have done at least one more, but I got scared after the first one. Can't believe you lost your readers.... that would make me sick too. I just love your color choices for the spring and summer bag. I am going to have to attempt this again after the hop. I love that you can put together such pretty combinations, that I wouldn't even think of. The tan bag color of the summer is striking, reminds me of sand. It is a really pretty bag. Your pinny turned out pretty in embroidery, it is a perfect match to your bag. Hugs, ~Cori
ReplyDeleteCarol, your projects are just wonderful! I was fascinated with your handles - such creativity, as usual. It's neat to know that a beginning cross-stitcher can have fabulous results. Don't be so hard on yourself - you sound a bit like a quilter!!! lol
ReplyDeleteOMG they are all perfect. I can't believe how you found the time to make them all. I am so like your chain you added to the handle. My husband keeps telling me that I need to put one on mine.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your readers. Sad, sad, sad. But your projects are happy, happy, happy. You did a beautiful job with all of them. Are you sure you are a beginner? Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWonderful job on all of your pieces. Busy little fingers. I had trouble finishing up 1. Sorry about the readers. That hurt. The background for your shots is super.
ReplyDeleteYour bags are just beautiful! I have to be careful when cleaning too! I have thrown a few things away! Great hop as always!
ReplyDeleteOh my, you have been busy. I love seeing the designs with different fabrics on the bags, I think the winter design is my favourite. x
ReplyDeleteOh my...3 Tammy's! And they are all so beautiful. I do love them all, but I think the winter one is just such an elegant design. Fabulous job on all!
ReplyDeleteAs for your readers...what can I say, but welcome to my world! Nothing I wouldn't have done myself. Don't ask my oldest about his birthday money. 30 years later and he still remembers! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job on your not one, not two, but THREE tammy bags! Amazing.
ReplyDeletepretty, pretty, pretty.
ReplyDeleteAll three Tammy Bags are gorgeous! So is your pinny. I love the fabrics you use with the embroidery pieces, and your zip pocket, too!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty work!!

ReplyDeleteWow, three bags! You have been so busy!
ReplyDeleteI love all three bags - love the turquoise bathing suit. Are you making the 4th one too?
ReplyDeleteOh, my! What a wonderful, and prolific, stitcher you are. I love the changes you have made, like making the long glove black. It's a very elegant bag. I haven't seen anyone else use a straight clasp for the bag. That's what I am using, also, for my Winter bag. It looks great. You're so clever to use such interesting handles for your bags. They add a whole different feeling to each purse. Lovely!

ReplyDeleteOk, I'm calling you an over-achiever and each bag is absolutely gorgeous. You did a fantastic job. I especially like the purple one. Your pictures are so crisp and clear. Love everything about your post. Even your honesty...lol
ReplyDeleteAs always I am so amazed at how many projects you get done, are you sure you don't have any little elves living with you?
ReplyDeleteI hope you continue to cross stitch now that you have gotten your feet wet... You did a most excellent job! and for me, fast forward 20 years and I still mess up.. and you will too 20 years down the road... I think it is our eyes that play tricks on us. lol
ReplyDeleteLove all of your Tammy Bags! I don't know which is my favorite so I choose them all! But I am crushing on that black plaid fabric and the scalloped zipper!
Wow! Your Tammy bags are gorgeous! Love the fabrics you chose, the handles, and your wonderful cross stitch...but laughed just a tad when I read that you threw out your glasses by mistake. That sounds like something I would do!
ReplyDeletethese are all so beautiful! You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully stitched Carol. I love how you were adventuresome and changed the colors. Love the purples too!! I love the Winter Tammy, the purse handle is beautiful...I will have to check out the zippers with the scallops. I'm still working on the Spring....got a wee bit frustrated with it...I can't image me trying the Winter design...maybe some day!! So sad to hear about your glasses..ouch. Happy stitching, Pauline
ReplyDeleteWowzers! I am thrilled to see your bags, your stitching, and your pinnies!! I love the handles you put with the purse frames they coordinate beautifully. You inspire me to become a better photographer.
ReplyDeleteThey are just too beautiful. The Tammys, pinny, and the lovely photos. The fabric and frames coordinate with the x-stitch patterns perfectly. Of course, always expect beauty when stopping here. :)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to tell you I REALLY like the leather handle !
ReplyDeleteExtra stitches? Missing stitches/ I see none of those. All of your bags are just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAll of your bags are adorable. The scalloped zipper is a perfect accent. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteWow, Carol! Beautiful work on all of your projects - looks like you have taken to cross-stitch! I love your extra details like the angora on the winter stole and the lacy zipper - wow, that's cool! Your colors are darling on the Spring design, so you! Great pictures as always - wonderful settings for all of your bags! You're an inspiration!
