It Was A Much Needed Mini Quilt Retreat With Friends

I was so excited when my friend, Brenda, called to let me know there was going to be a
fun gathering of special friends for a mini quilt retreat. It was very much needed!
Sewing, laughing, and eating...a great combination!
The house we met at was incredible with tons of room. Thanks, Nancy!
Plus, her husband smoked some bacon and made us BLT's...yum!

This is a sneak peek of my Wish Upon A Star blog hop quilt with Lily.
She's the family dog who loves to be a part of the quilting group.
Lily is so sweet!

While we were quilting we had a beautiful view of the Las Vegas Valley.

Nancy's garden of flowers was gorgeous!

It was the best two days I've had in a long time.

This is my new temporary pup. She's 10 years old and will be staying with
us for a while. My son may have to fight to get her back.
Dreidel is a great snuggler and is so loveable!

Happy Mother's Day!

It's Thursday Somewhere, Sometime, Doing Something

I love having contact with different bloggers in other states and countries.
It amazes me that because of the internet I can see what other quilters are up to.
Thanks to all of you, I am constantly learning new things...awesome!
My newest learning thing was making the X-Block ruler quilt.

Allison suggested "The Queens Apple" would make a great teacher gift.
Yes, it would!

You really should check out all the other quilts made for the
Sew Incredibly Crazy X-Block Blog Hop HERE.

I have so many projects in the works...my sewing room looks like a
fabric bomb went off in there! No pictures...I don't want to scare you.

Working with Riley Blake Design's Rustic Romance for a May 16th post was
such a pleasure. The fabrics were gorgeous and our photo adventure was fun, too!
Really rustic looking, isn't it.

This guy got to model for a Therm O Web post for May 21st...not real happy about it,
but he's such a sweetie. I love his dark eyes! Fabrics used are from Windham's Botany line.

Another fat quarter bundle by Windham, Gypsy, is waiting for inspiration...I love it!

The Monkey Boys were intrigued by this moth on their tree.
Not very pretty, but it looks so furry like a bunny!

The Wish Upon A Star Blog Hop starts pretty soon.
I can't wait to see all the star projects!

Sign-ups continue for Christmas in July...email me if you want to play along!

My Day For The X-Block Blog Hop

I'm so glad you've stopped by to visit my blog and to check out my
project for the X-Block Blog Hop. Have you seen these really cool templates
that take a sewn block and turns it into something totally different by just a
slight rotation of the block? You're going to love the X-Block templates!

It is so nice of Amy at Sew Incredibly Crazy to host this blog hop for
Doris of Quilting Queen Online who's the new owner of X-Blocks templates.
Thank you Amy and Doris!

I used the 6 1/2" X-Blocks template and based my quilt on a block in the book
"X-Blocks Land". The book has some amazing ideas for using the templates.

I created the block from "Knight Time" and planned to make it just like it was in the book.
But then...I started flipping the blocks around and came up with something totally different.
That's what's so fun with these X-Blocks!

I call this version, "The Queen's Apple"

This might or might not be a poisonous apple

Here it is in lighter colors...much easier to see the layout of the X-Blocks!

You can find the X-Block templates HERE!

Look a giveaway, too!

Shhh...don't tell anyone, but it's my birthday today.

Catch That Dribble Baby Bib Baby Shower Gift Idea

I'm usually thinking about sewing a baby shower gift at the last possible minute.
Thank goodness for the internet and all the downloadable patterns and gift ideas!
I'm over at the ThermOWeb blog today sharing my "Catch That Dribble" baby bib.

Catch That Dribble

I found an easy burp cloth to go with the bib.

It can be downloaded at Perfect Baby Burp Cloth by SoSew Easy

Instead of printing to paper, I print my favorite patterns on Stitch n Sew EZ Quilt Block Sheets
so I can use them over and over again. The sheets are transparent, 100% polyester, machine
washable, and printable on inkjet printers. Just load an Stitch n Sew EZ Quilt Block Sheet
into your printer, press “print”, and it’s ready to use. So easy!

You’re going to love using Stitch n Sew EZ Quilt Block Sheets for printing your patterns.
They’re amazing for paper piecing, too! For bigger projects, tracing your patterns on
ThermOWeb Stitch n Sew Pattern Material is the way to go. It comes by the yard
and measures 58½” wide…perfect for clothes patterns!

You can find the PDF pattern for Catch That Dribble! in Just Let Me Quilt’s Craftsy store HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

It's A Wild Life May Block Of The Month

This month's block for It's A Wild Life is by Joan of Moosestash Quilting.
She loves to make anything with a moose in it, but this time it's a bear paw.
With all my years of sewing would you believe I've never made a bear paw block.

I think my bear had her nails polished for this block...red is pretty stylish for a bear!

Amy at Sew Incredibly Crazy has a giveaway each month, but you have to make the block
and link it on her blog. It's easy to do and the giveaways are always amazing!

I'm using Riley Blake Designs fabrics in all my blocks, including
Confetti, Crayola, Kisses. I love all their fabrics!

My blocks from each month's design:

May - Bear Paw - Moosestash Quilting - Pattern info found HERE

April - Big and Little Tree - Just Let Me Quilt - Pattern info found HERE

March - Deer - Creatin' In The Sticks - Pattern info found HERE

February - Maple Leaf - Sew Incredibly Crazy - Pattern info found HERE

There's a Facebook page for information and sharing, too.

Being Ahead Of The Game Worked Out Big Time For Me

I've always been a bit of a worrier about not being on time with projects, so I sometimes
finish projects weeks ahead of due dates and even get my posts ready early.
Being ahead of the game worked out big time for me.
I got sick...ugh!

It's lasted almost two weeks and if it weren't for my hubby making sure I
was fed and hydrated, it would have been ugly for me.
My sister jumped in with her silver cough drops, honey, tea, Vicks, Essential Oils, etc.
Thank goodness for their help!

The saddest thing for me was not being able to meet Collette from "What About Rheema."
She was driving through town and we'd planned to connect. Didn't happen!
Maybe another time...

Luckily, I had almost all my deadlines met until early May. Whew!
Sometimes my neurotic worries works out for me.

I'd already finished these two when I got sick...
The 30 Blocks in 30 Days Quilts for Creatin' In The Sticks

These are coming in the next week or so...

May 1st "It's A Wild Life" BOM

May 2nd Therm O Web Baby Gift Idea

May 7th X Blocks Blog Hop

There's the "Wish Upon A Star" blog hop coming, too.
I've got the quilt top made...yay!

The "Christmas in July" blog hop has a few openings if you want to play along.
Nope, I haven't started this one yet but I'm thinking!

Anyway...
I'm starting to feel sort of back to normal (whatever that is) and maybe can start
sewing again. It's been so long and I have so many beautiful fabrics calling my name!

Wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough, stay home when you're sick.
Stay healthy!

Dresden Carnival Goes To Sweden

I love Dresden quilts and this one was even more fun with a 48" center. Dresden Carnival 76" x 76" My friend in Sweden, Brit...
