The Volleyball Quilt Scores Big With The Monkey Boy

This Monkey Boy came over today to watch the Super Bowl game with us, but
he was more excited to get the quilt he designed and I sewed for him.

I think the look on his face says it all!

The Monkey Boy thought I should take a picture of the back of the quilt, too.

He's very proud of the label he designed. I am, too!
(His embroidered signature has been blurred out.)

He loved how big it was...about 61" x 76".
The volleyball fabric was by Timeless Treasures.

AND...

The We Support You blog hop continues on Monday.

You'll want to visit all of these blogs for lots of inspiring ideas!

I'm so glad you stopped by to visit!

Volleyball Quilt For A Monkey Boy

I put the binding on the volleyball quilt yesterday and let Monkey Boy #2 know that it was done.
His response was, and I quote, "Awesome!"
I'll be delivering it to him tomorrow...I can't wait!

The volleyball net in our park is a little saggy.
Even the littlest Monkey Boy could hit a ball over it!

His label looks "awesome" on the back of his quilt.

Another Monkey Boy Quilt And Label

I finished the rest of Monkey Boy #2's quilt top, back, and label...time to quilt it now!

It's so fun to have them each draw their own label and pick what fabric/design they want for a quilt.
Here's his hand embroidered label...he thought it was "awesome!" I did, too!

(I embroidered his signature/name on it, but I removed it with a little PicMonkey cloning.)

Monkey Boy #2 loves volleyball, which is why he chose volleyball fabric for two of his quilts.
He let me know he'd outgrown the one I made in 2012 and that he needed a BIGGER volleyball quilt.

He designed that one, too!

This is one I made for his dad in 2009. They are a VERY serious volleyball playing family!
Monkey Boy's quilt was made with the leftover scraps.

Hmmm...I think my photos have improved a bit over the years thanks to a better camera and helpful
hints from Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt. She's got some helpful hints for cross stitching, too.
You can find those hints at her new blog...check it out!

Of Course I'll Drop Everything For You....

....I said to my five year old grandson (who's almost six) a few days ago.  He'd asked me to sew him a volleyball quilt a long time ago, but I'd never got around to it. But, when those big brown eyes looked at me the other day and said he'd "been waiting since I was four" to get his volleyball quilt, of course I went right to work on it.

I had some blocks already sewn up from the last volleyball quilt I made, so I handed them to him and told him to design his own quilt. He loved that the blocks stuck to my wall and had a great time moving them around.

This little monkey has a tendency to get distracted and bounced out of the room more than he was in, but he got all the pieces on the wall and was really proud of himself.

It's finished and ready for him to be wrapped up in and snuggled by all of us who love him so much.

Now, it's back to what consumes
most of my free time...
and I love it!

The Volleyball Quilt

This is the first quilt I machine stitched all the binding--so easy! I had it machine quilted at Quilted Works, picked it up on Friday and finished sewing the binding on today. Whew! I love it!
I gave it to Lewis, of course!
