Riley Blake Designs "Little Engine That Could" Blog Tour

This new fabric release by Riley Blake Designs, "Little Engine That Could", brought back a lot of memories of my elementary school days and reading the book to my children. Even my five year old grandson knew the story!

The prints are vibrant, 100 per cent cotton, and look amazing in my quilt, "I Know I Can!" which measures 45" x 45" when finished.

I Know I Can!

Riley Blake has captured the whole book in its fabric line and I think you'l love it as much as I do. The book "The Little Engine That Could" was published in 1930 by Watty Piper. The book encourages us to not give up and to keep on trying, which is still great advice 90 years later.

The fabric line includes a panel to make a book, but I fussy cut the blocks and used them in the quilt.

Look at all the fun fabrics you can choose from!

I love that argyle design and thought it was perfect for the binding.

Applique is kind of my thing, so I added a train and clown to the center. He's a happy train, isn't he!

I love using EZ Print Lite Sheets by ThermOWeb for my applique...no tracing! Just print in your inkjet printer and your designs are ready.

The back of the quilt is pieced with leftover fabric, which makes it even more sweet.
You can find my pattern for "I Know I Can" HERE.
Thank you for stopping by! Be sure to check out Riley Blake Designs to see more beautiful and fun projects to sew. Check HERE to see the book panel sewn into a book...so cute!

Vintage Toy Time With Riley Blake Designs Fisher-Price Fabric

Back in the "olden days" when my children were small, Fisher-Price toys were all around my house. The airplane, bus, and xylophone were their favorites. Now thanks to Riley Blake Designs, those favorite toys are in adorable fabrics that are ready for quilts, toy animals, or pillows. There's no limit as to what these fun fabrics can be used for!

The carousel and people are adorable!

I love anything dotted so it was fun to see these fabrics in several colors. They are perfect for backgrounds.

With all the memories this sweet fabric stirred up, I was reminded of all the fun my children had with the toys. They've changed a bit over time, but they are still the best toys around.

"Vintage Toy Time"
48" x 58"

"Fisher-Price" fabrics are 100% cotton and come in some really cute designs! Do you remember the  popping sound some of those toys made? It was definitely a smile maker!

The back of my quilt has that push toy popper in the fabric along with other toys. The xylophone fabric was perfect for the binding.

The center block has fabric with lions, monkeys, and other Fisher-Price characters. The lettering is the colors spelled out...what a great way to teach colors to children!

Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons come in so many colors, which made it easy to match them with the Fisher-Price fabrics.

I think you'll love the Fisher-Price fabrics as much as I do!

Spot's Day For The 30 Quilt Blocks In 30 Days Blog Hop

Carla from Creatin' in the Sticks came up with a very cool idea for sewing simple blocks
to make quick quilts. Then she asked a bunch of us to get creative with those simple blocks and
organized us into the 30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days blog hop. Great idea...thanks, Carla!

I chose block number 21, SPOT, for today's project.
I immediately thought of the books from my days as a kid in school.
I always liked Spot!

Making the Spot block was so easy!
Carla's instructions for Spot can be found HERE.

These are the measurements for the Spot 10" finished block:

I added a circle in the center, borders, and some dogs using an Accuquilt die that I've had
forever. Of course, I named the quilt, "Spot." The fabrics are by Riley Blake Designs.

The photos were taken in a St. George, Utah, park. I love the dragon!

This little girl and her dogs seemed like an appropriate photo prop!

I love my "crew" who is always there to lend a hand.
It was too cold for him to run through the water at the splash pad.

Quilted Works used a dog design for the quilting...see the little paws!

Thanks for stopping by to see "Spot!"
