It is time for camping, barbecues and picnics, so let's have a "Picnic Party"! We put out the challenge to create something to use for a picnic (example - basket, tote, etc., or a square quilt.
When I was a kid, our picnic quilts were made from 5" squares cut from old clothing or fabric used to make our clothing. They were tied with yarn at each corner. Some of the fabrics were polyester, flannel, or cotton. My mom put whatever she had on hand into those quilts.
With temperatures around here reaching 118 degrees, my picnic will be held under a shade tree for sure (or maybe in the comfort of my air conditioned house.)
"Picnic Party"
62" x 62"
Fabrics: Benartex Glow-O-Saurus by Kansas Studios
It was an easy quilt!
The plain blocks were 9.5" when finished...perfect for a layer cake.
I used 13 layer cake squares (they are 10" x 10")
The striped blocks were 9.5" x 9.5".
Yellow: 2.5" x 10"
White: 2.5" x 10"
Green: 2" x 10"
There's a Picnic Party Pinterest page HERE.
