It's my day for Creatin' in the Sticks All About Strings Blog hop!
I have a few jelly rolls sitting around that definitely need some ideas for using and
I'm hoping this hop is going to be a big help in finding ways to use some of them!
There are a few in my stash that have been there a long, long time, but the one I used
for this hop isn't too old. The white jelly roll strips has been there a few years.
I used my "strings" to make a quilt as you go project.
I used only fabric from my stash on this one and put some minky fabric on the back.
My youngest daughter snatched it right up! I'm sure there will be a few Monkey Boys
snuggled up in it with her. It's 54" x 54" which is a nice size for cuddling those boys.
When I looked around for string quilt ideas, I found a quilt-as-you-go method on
Upstairs Hobby Room. It was easy and quick to make the 20 blocks. Once I'd sewn the
strips in place, I trimmed each block to 9 1/2" x 9 1/2" squares. The blocks were
then sewn in rows of four across and four down. Each border was two strips of 4" x 36 1/2"
and one strip of 2 1/2" x 36 1/2", with a square sewn on both ends of two of those strips
Monkey Boy feet!
He was an awesome helper.
Check out all the other "Strings" happening this week!

ReplyDeleteHi Carol! Your string quilt turned out so nicely. I love the addition of the string blocks in the corners!! That really sets off the whole quilt so nicely. How is it possible that a monkey boy is tall enough to hold up a quilt for you??!! No way! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt, it had me fooled I thought it was a wall hanging size by looking at the first pic! I like that you added the white strips to add unity to the blocks and how creative to use more blocks in the corners.

ReplyDeleteThat quilt looks great! I was wondering how difficult it is to use quilt-as-you-go method with money fabric on the back as I have been wanting to do that.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Very Pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love how that turned out Carol, so bright and beautiful. I can see why your daughter snatched it up so quickly. Who would think that such fun and easy blocks would make such beautiful quilts, but I myself love these squares especially when I need a quick gift since they go together like magic. Love the fun colors, I wish I were this talented to get lights to go together so nicely... I am just better with dark fabrics. Of course, I think I am drawn to them I have more dark fabric than I do light fabric in my collection of fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beauty! And of course another fun hop you are paricipating in!
