It's Day One of "Something Smells Fishy".
I'm ready to see what my incredible friends make to meet the challenge!
The challenge was:
Fish or creatures from the ocean in fabrics, appliques, quilts, stuffies, or bags.
If it looks fishy, it meets the challenge.
It must be something new you've sewn for this hop.
I went all the way to the Artic to find the fish fabric for this challenge.
Chillin' Before Lunch
(Fabrics: Benartex Arctic Friends by Kanvas Studios)
It was at least 200 degrees outside when I took my photos and there were bees and wasps
flying around trying to get a taste of me. Sometimes quilt photo taking is a dangerous task!
Fast and furious was the way to take pics.
I didn't get this Steampunk fishy flimsy quilted yet. Soon I hope!
I'm seriously crazy about these characters, even the scary fish one!
Having flowering plants and fruit trees is nice until those nasty things try to get me.
These Donut Peaches and Paradise Apples were worth the danger!

Challenge: Animals, plants, trees…what’s in your jungle?
For some of us, it might even be our sewing rooms.
LOL!!
Something Wicked
I'm hosting this one...the challenge is self-explanatory.
Your penguin quilt is adorable and the steampunk quilt is so beautiful and interesting! The peaches look delish!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt and so funny about the photo shoot. It is a great one and Benartex is lucky to have you designing for them and we are luck to benefit from a great pattern!
ReplyDeleteI love those quilts, Carol! The steampunk critters are fun--I especially like that turtle's expression--and that piranha is something else! Wish I could get some of those peaches... :) (but I've had some good ones here in Illinois, so can't complain)
ReplyDeleteOh that chilly little Arctic friend is just too cute! Kathleen is right, Benartex is lucky to have such a talented designer. I think I might have been with you when you bought that Steampunk fabric. LOL!! That came out so cute.
ReplyDeleteApparently I am anonymous today. Guess I need to sign into Google! hahahaha
ReplyDeleteThank you for risking life and limb to get a picture of your cute penguin quilt! It is SEW cute!
ReplyDeleteOn these hot days, seeing a penguin in the snow looks so refreshing (and cute too)! Those peaches look delish. I love that sea turtle on the Steampunk quilt top. Carol, you always have such fun projects.
ReplyDeleteLove both your projects! That penguin is just adorable. We have been 104-108 recently too. The peaches do look delicious. Wish I had some!
ReplyDeleteaww this is so cute (both of them)
ReplyDeleteThat fabric is so darned cute, love your finish. Thank you for hosting the hop.
ReplyDeleteThe penguin is adorable. Thank you for the pattern. Steampunk in a lot of fun. Part of my vegetable garden is now a wasp nest so even watering is a scary adventure. I wanted to replant the empty spots but, I guess not.
ReplyDeleteCute quilts!
ReplyDeleteVery colorful and pretty quilt. The fish look real almost.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like stitching up something chilly like an ice-cold penguin eyeing some cool fish on a hot summer day! The blue colors in the fabrics almost give me goosebumps! This quilt will surely warm some frosty toes this winter. Great work, as always, Carol!
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are great! But, I must admit, the penguin is my favourite!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely projects and access to one of the patterns. I love anything with penguins. Who wouldn't?? I really appreciate your blog hop challenges. You're sew wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLJ here. The Artic? and it's 200 degrees?? Well, the fabric is cute and the name of the collection is spot on. Adorable quilt with that fabric, too. Love the Steampunk Rock fabric. That is a scary fish but that fits with Halloween also. Did you make something awesome with that fruit?
ReplyDeleteThe cool penguin has to lower the temp somewhat! That’s very cute as are the steampunk characters. Love donut peaches.Glad they survived the heat.
ReplyDeleteoh my that steampunk fabric is wonderful. each character cooler than the next. sorry it doesn't help your outdoor temps. Your cute little penquin is so sweet. Such opposite extremes between your quilts is wonderful for us to view for our kickoff for this hop.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the penguin quilt, so adorable and the steampunk fabric is so much fun with the delightful characters.
ReplyDeleteYour penguin is super cute! Love those fishes jumping over head. The steampunk creatures are fun!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute, fish jumping over a penguin. It is a nice cool quilt for the summer.
