It Is All About Blog Hopping With Mug Rugs

It is going to be an amazing week of mug rugs thanks to Carla at Creatin' in the Sticks and her blog hop challenge! I am so lucky to work with two incredibly talented ladies, Carla and Joan, who have what seems like never ending ideas to inspire our creativity in these blog hops. We are all excited to share our ideas for next year (coming soon.)

I wasn't sure about sizes for mug rugs so I looked it up on Google. Here's the answer about mug rug sizes that I found: "Mug rugs are typically any size between a 4 x 7 and a 12 x 8. They are known for being able to place your mug on with a tasty treat such as a croissant, bagel or cookie."

Treats for Santa, 8" x 12"

The non traditional Christmas colors show off Santa's feminine side.

The next two mug rugs were sewn with the quilt-as-you-go method.

5" x 8" mug rug with no pocket

6" x 9" mug rug with a pocket...are those girls just the sweetest!

Using Spray n Bond Basting Adhesive is a great way to hold the fabric in place
when getting ready to quilt-as-you-go.

A walking foot makes it easy to sew strips in place.

I love using my Oliso mini iron for small jobs like this!

An 8" x 8" mug rug with room for my tea and cookies works for me!

Using a Crafter's Edge cutting die made it so easy to fussy cut this teapot.

Sewing with Benartex fabric is always a pleasure and this time was no exception. My mug rugs are all made using Benartex's "Be the Light" by Kelly Rae Roberts and Cotton Shot by Amanda Murphy...such beautiful fabrics!

Look who's blog hopping this week with their mug rugs!

Thank you for stopping by!

  24. Love the colors in the fabrics for your mug rugs. Nice size too and the pocket is a neat idea. Now for the funny to me part: In the section of the mug rug with the 3 females, it says Joy in the upper right and the female on the left has a bag that says, Embrace the Journey." However, they don't look to joyful to me.

  32. Hi Carol! OH, that Santa is just SO darn cute. He is friendly and a wee bit chubby and just what you would expect him to look like. At least, that's spot on from my childhood memories! And the teapot and cup are so darn pretty. I've been meaning to make something similar for a coworker. You're inspiring me to do so! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
