I can't even put into words how much fun I had the last two days with Joan from Moosestash quilting. She's lucky I didn't tie her up to keep her a few more days. I was so, so sad when I dropped her off at her hotel today. I miss her already!
Ron and I had a great dinner with Joan and her husband on Friday. We went to Lazy Dogs and totally enjoyed their company!
Saturday morning, I picked up Joan and Susan and headed to Sew Yeah, the quilt store. The applique class had 12 students. Thank goodness I had Joan and my other friend, Susan, to help me stay focused. I do tend to talk fast and move around a lot.
Susan promised to stop me from getting a green tea latte from Starbucks, because she knows how wired I can be after drinking one. She saved me from totally jabbering out of control. Thanks, Susan!
Joan is the queen of applique, but beyond that, she made me laugh and kept me entertained. She had great input for the class, too. Thanks for everything, Joan!
This lady didn't want her picture taken, but she was up for her project being photographed.
Seriously, this was such a fun group of ladies to teach. Most of them were new to applique, but they jumped right in and didn't hesitate to learn how to do it.
Did I mention how much I miss Joan already? Well, I do!
After the class was over, I took Joan for a ride. We stopped at my house so she could meet Bruster and Bella, and then off we went for a cold drink and a shared sandwich. We ate in my air conditioned car while watching the Big Horn Sheep. The temperatures outside were 110 degrees...a little warm!
We braved the heat and wind to get closer to the sheep and asked someone to take some photos of us. Some of the pics were okay but some were pretty hilarious! I'm not sharing those.
Such a whirlwind of a trip for Joan, but the best time for me. I was so grateful to have her to hang out! I'm looking forward to teaching another class and/or hanging out with Joan again!
What fortunate people to have BOTH of you help them learn appliqué!
ReplyDeleteI surely enjoyed reading about your class lovely lady . You are always making so funny and beautiful appliqué.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your class and adventures. Did they all make the same thing or did they bring their own fabric and pattern?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post about a wonderful time! It's neat to see you and Joan together. Thanks for sharing this special time with us, Carol!
ReplyDeleteOh, my gosh, what a fun class!! It looks like everyone is having such a great time!
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine you two together! Your post really comes through as testament to what a great visit you were able to share with each other and with us.
ReplyDeleteIt was such a fun time and over way too soon. The class was the best and you couldn’t have hand picked 12 genuinely more wonderful people if you had to. A quick weekend is just too little time! I miss you already Carol.
ReplyDeleteHow fun!! You two make a great team. I bet that class was fun and well entertained! LOL
ReplyDeleteSounds like wonderful fun and learning.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, looks like you had a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteI’ve always enjoyed Joan’s humor so imagine it was a hoot to spend time with her. The class looks like it was fun and productive.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you two finally met and enjoyed each other's company in all that you did together. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you both had such fun. Crafty friends are the best :)
ReplyDeleteHi Carol! It's just fabulous to see a picture of you and Joan (and Susan, too!) as wonderful documentation of the visit. That quilt shop looks pretty darn nifty! That's in the LV area? I can't wait until I get out there next time to go visit it. I'm so glad you were able to get some good visiting time in as well. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteThis was just the most feel good post ever. So happy y'all had such a good time. Hope you don't have to wait too long to do it again.
ReplyDeleteYou are so amazing at applique, I am glad to hear that you are teaching. Doing that with friends makes it even more wonderful! Looks like you had a great time together.
