Just started putting the pieces on my pathetic and very non-fancy design wall (made of batting), but I love the wall because it makes it so much easier to place the pieces where they should be.
This quilt is so fun to work on!

What a fun quilt! Love your idea of using quilt batt for your design wall. I've got flannel on mine, but have learned that newer flannel has more "gripping power" than a piece that's seen lots of laundering. ;o)
