What's A Blog Hop? Well....

Madame Samm explains it the best:

"I get asked often, what kind of blog are we? Besides sharing we are a Blog HOP blog!
Many are still not sure what that is...But when I say we are a SEW and SHOW
blog, they get it. Sometimes, the simplest of words says it all."

To kick off her new button, there's an amazing giveaway.

It's All About Frankie

I'm in the middle of packing up to move...I have a little over three weeks to get it done. Whew, this old body is not liking it at all! So what did I do this weekend to relax and put all that packing out of my head? I played around and made a pattern. It didn't start out that way...I was just making something for the Wicked Blog Hop. I think Frankie is a pretty cool guy who'd make a great wall hanging or table runner. Or...I think I have a three year old Monkey Boy who might love to use him as a quilt to snuggle with me.

Me, Batiks, and Bobby McGee

These past few weeks of sewing with batiks has had me hearing Janis Joplin's husky voice singing
"Me and Bobby McGee" and I've been chasing Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" in my sleep.

It's been a real trip sewing on these things!

All of these songs and batiks sent me down memory lane thanks to

Mary of I Piece 2-Mary (she's our far out cheerleader) we go with a "Jumpin Jack Flash" to see what I made with batiks:

"Hanky Panky" Bear

"Heatwave" Santa table topper

He's a "Daydream Believer" and feeling so groovy!
I drew him AND embroidered him.

"Yellow Submarine" quilt

"Wooly Bully" Batik Bear

I'm sure we're going to be freaking out over all the batik creations we'll be seeing during this hop. So be cool and don't worry about the fuzz, because it's going to be a blast!

Here's a list of the Flower Children who are posting today:

I'm getting some "Good Vibrations, so don't have a cow...
there IS a giveaway!

To honor the newest Ghastlie (who looks a lot like my Monkey Baby when I try to
take him from his mom) and in anticipation of the Wicked Blog Hop,
I have a little "Monster Mash" package of Ghastlie fabric that will go to the winner.

Fabric Postcards And Batiks

I received this yesterday from Vickie...what a cool idea for a thank you note!
 Thank you, Vickie...I love this!

Last year I received this one from Annie when she had a giveaway.

I think I need more fabric postcards to fill this space (and yes, I need
more clothespins to make them all look cute, cute, cute!)

Tomorrow's the big day for batiks...I can't wait to see what amazing
creations come out of this hop. It is going to be an outta sight blog hop!
Can you dig it!

I'm Not A Slug...I'm Not, I'm Not, I'm Not!

I'm not a slug, really, I'm NOT!

I've been...
sewing, sewing, sewing those beautiful batiks
while singing to the oldies (in my head, of course...don't
want to scare the neighbors by singing out loud.)

Gotta love these songs that are playing in my head on a continuous loop...

But, WAIT! There's more!

Well, shake it up, baby, now, (shake it up, baby)
Twist and shout. (twist and shout)
Cmon cmon, cmon, cmon, baby, now, (come on baby)
Come on and work it on out. (work it on out)

This music in my head has got to stop!

Thank goodness the batiks start soon so I can
go back to singing COUNTRY SONGS in my head.

It's going to be a far-out and groovy batik experience...
See you Wednesday (that's my day!)

Batiks (and Brownies) Are So Far Out!

In the 60's I was just a kid who was into the Beatles, The Monkees, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Sonny and Cher, and Herman's Hermits. I wore jeans, buffalo sandals, and t-shirts most of the time and sewed all my own clothes, including this little dress I'm wearing with Frank in 1968.

I never put flowers in my hair or smoked "funny things", but I knew some people who made those brownies that had a little "something" in them. I also never sewed anything with batiks.

Well guess what...that's going to change! Batiks are coming in a week or so and I've been busy sewing away with some far-out batiks that are so cool and out-ta-sight!

As for the brownies, I always use a package mix (Ghiradelli is my favorite) because I have yet to find a homemade brownie recipe I like. Do you have a favorite homemade brownie recipe you'd be willing to share with me?...(without the "funny stuff" in them, of course!) I like them chewie on the inside and a little crunchy on the top.

I think Frank is kind of excited about the hop that will be starting on October 22nd.
I'm excited, too!

Ladies Diary Quilt

It was love at first sight when I first saw the Ladies Diary quilt hanging on the wall of Scrap Apple. I bought the kit and finally got it finished. It isn't exactly the same (no surprise there, since I have a hard time following a pattern exactly), but I think it is pretty close to the original pattern (I changed the center a little.) I even mitered the corners on the border, which I've never done before...they looked okay, thank goodness! I took a few quick photos before dropping it off yesterday to be quilted at Quilted Works. It is big...92" by 92"! I can't wait to get it back so I can take some better pics of it quilted.

I've Been Pinned!

Madame Samm from got us in the mood to pin...

Kristen from Meadowbrook is cheering us on...

And today is my day to share my pincushion creations.
I had such fun looking for ideas and creating my own pincushions.

I found a vintage-like clamp at Christmas Goose and just HAD to have it! After a little searching,
I found this cute bird pattern at Cheswick Company that would work perfectly with the clamp.
(My bird didn't quite turn out like theirs, but close enough.) This was my first time sewing with
wool felt...loved it! It wasn't 100% wool, but it worked great for this cute bird.

Their pattern had the heart underneath the wing...I thought it was too cute to hide.

I previously mentioned my visit to Superior Threads and my luck in meeting Annie from has a pattern that included this rolled up wool felt/felted wool pincushion.
(I'm learning the difference between wool felt and felted wool thanks to Annie.)

A shopping trip with my three-year-old Monkey Boy found us this cute soap dish. It is heavy and
works great to hold my pincushion. I filled it (and my other pincushions) with walnut shells
that I purchased at Quilt My little flower and covered button look so cute on my mini quilt!

A sundae anyone?

I just love those clamps and this circus elephant perches nicely on it.
The elephant pattern is by Heather Bailey, Effie & Ollie.

Just in case you didn't know, the Wicked Blog Hop is coming and this guy is ready!

Enough of me, me, about a giveaway?

This amazing package of threads from Thearica will go to the second name chosen.
