Beach Boy Freddie Makes A Comeback Appearance

Beach Boy Freddie is one of my favorite applique designs and he's come back for an appearance on the ThermOWeb blog today. He's a free pattern right now, so check him out HERE!

These are my go-to products from ThermOWeb that make my projects so much easier to put together:

Heat n Bond Lite Iron-on Adhesive

Spray n Bond Basting Adhesive

Heat n Bond Lite EZ Print Sheets

Stitch n Sew High Loft Fleece

Heat n Bond Light Weight Non-Woven Interfacing

Being a designer for both ThermOWeb and Crafter's Edge gives me so many opportunities to be creative. I loved using the die cutting letters from Crafter's Edge for this beach project!

Beach Boy Freddie has appeared a few times in my quilty projects...

Riley Blake Designs Make It Modern Project Tour

I love modern art and modern quilting, so using Riley Blake Designs "Blossom" fabric made it easy to be creative with my quilt that I simply called "Flowers".

"Flowers"
52" x 60"

RBD "Blossom" fabric by Christopher Thompson comes in a variety of colors. I used Lemonzest, Peacock, Raspberry, Black, tone-on-tone White, and Holly in "Flowers". The binding is RBD Stripes in black and white.

Though I'm a fan of modern art forms, my great-great aunt, Josephine Hancock Logan, was definitely not into modern art. She published a book called "Sanity in Art" in 1937 and formed a "society" that was opposed to all forms of modernism, including abstract expressionism, cubism, and surrealism.

I think she'd change her mind if she were around to see all the amazing modern quilts that are out there!

The flowers are appliqued on the quilt and it was so easy with Heat n Bond Lite EZ Print Sheets*. I run the sheets through my inkjet printer...no tracing! Plus, the backing peels off without having to score it with a pin. I love that! *Affiliate link

Riley Blake Designs has the best striped fabrics in various widths and colors...I love using them for my bindings!

RBD "Blossom" fabrics make beautiful quilts by themselves or as accent fabrics. They make a perfect fabric to keep in your stash!

Check out more projects to make on the Riley Blake Designs Blog.

It Ocean Time In The Salt And Sand Blog Hop

It is my day, along with some fabulous bloggers, to share my "Salt and Sand" project. After the amazing week of inspiring ocean quilts, bags, and other awesomeness, I'm more than ready to hit the beach!

A Little Bit Fishy
50" x 50"

I had some Laurel Burch fabric in my stash that was perfect for this hop. Plus, I combined the hop with using Crafter's Edge Drunkard's Path die cuts. I have NEVER sewn a curve so this was a huge leap for me.

The dies come in two sizes and can cut up to six layers of fabric. I used the larger size die to make an unfinished 6 1/2" block.

The little notches on the dies made it so easy to sew them together.

Fussy cutting is a breeze with these dies!

Just match the notches, pin, and sew. You can use more pins, but I used only three as I eased the fabric on the curve.

A quarter inch foot makes it easy to stay along the edge while sewing the curve.

Press the seam towards the curved section. I love my purple Oliso!

This was my plan using EQ8 to figure out what I was visualizing in my head. Sometimes what's in my head doesn't always turn out how I was thinking it would, but this time it did.

You can find a PDF pattern for "A Little Bit Fishy" HERE.

Sneak peek of Beach Boy Freddie who will be making an appearance next week on the ThermOWeb blog. He's so ready for the beach!

Salt And Sand Blog Hop Is Up And Running

If I could be anywhere today, it would be at the beach smelling the salty air and burying my toes in the sand. Unfortunately that is not happening, but the Salt and Sand blog hop is a great alternative to feeling beachy. Plus I know I'll be so inspired with creative projects!

What is a blog hop? It's like a "show and tell" online and are like joining a quilt guild without leaving home. Carla from Creatin' in the Sticks and I host blog hops featuring sewing and quilting.  We post a challenge on our blogs and those that want to join in email us with their blog info. After we get that info, we assign a date for them to post their project.

We inspire each other with projects, tutorials, or patterns. Anyone can follow along! We give everyone plenty of time to sew something, usually two months.

Check out all these beachy bloggers! Be sure to visit and leave a comment...they will love you for it!
