Take A Ride To Santa Claus Lane In Riley Blake Designs Blog Tour

It's always a toss up which I love the most, Christmas or Halloween, and it usually comes down to loving them both about the same. Riley Blake Designs never disappoints with fabric designs from both holidays, including the new "Santa Claus Lane" by Melissa Mortenson of Polka Dot Chair. It's 100 percent cotton and great for quilting, apparel and home decor.

It even has the cutest Christmas stocking panel with applique Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus!

Santa is such a good guy for taking his sweet wife on a date!

Rudolph is a wonderful escort for date night with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Candy canes, flowers, and strings of lights...so fun!

Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons blend perfectly with "Santa Claus Lane" fabric.

There's Santa...love the mint color!

The wind was totally out of control during picture taking, but it did show off the back where it was pieced with leftover "Santa Claus Lane" fabric.

How sweet is that striped fabric! It is just the cutest and is perfect next to those candy canes.

"Santa Claus Lane" is a great combo of fabric for any Christmas project!

Fly me to the moon, Santa!

"Midnight Ride With Mrs. Claus" is a free pattern this week...you can find it HERE

Words To Grow By Block Of The Month - LEAD

It's been a tough six months for everyone, including the four of designers of the "Words To Grow By" block of the month (BOM.) The block designers, Amy from Sew Incredibly CrazyCarla from Creatin' in the SticksJoan from Moosestash Quilting, and me, Carol from Just Let Me Quilt do everything we can to keep up with the BOM in spite of chaos and life events for each of us.

We finally decided we needed to take a break so we could regroup and catch up with our lives. We posted this on the Facebook page for Sew Incredibly Crazy Block of the Month:

"Due to unforeseen events, we have decided to take a break from the block of the months until next year. Just to be clear, we ARE NOT leaving you hanging with an unfinished project! We love our followers too much to do that.

Beginning Monday and through the end of August, each designer will release the remaining blocks, including the stars, and measurements for the border. They will be free through September for downloading, so be sure to grab them as they post on this page.

We have loved our time with you and will leave this Facebook page open so you can ask questions and show us your finished blocks and quilts. Thank you for your understanding!"

To start the early block releasing, I shared a block today, "LEAD", and think that is a pretty awesome word right now.

I love this quote:

“You don’t lead by hitting people over the head – that’s assault, not leadership.”
~ President Dwight Eisenhower

You can find "LEAD" for free HERE.

We all love using EZ Print Lite Sheets by ThermOWeb...no tracing!
Just print in your inkjet printer and your designs are ready.

Here's a list of all the blocks so far:

First Day Of Stitching Sunshine Blog Hop

The "Stitching Sunshine" blog hop is a perfect way to start the summer and chase away some of the chaos that's been happening. Are you ready for some fun...I am!

I love being on the first day of a blog hop, especially one that's hosted by the amazing Carla from Creatin' in the Sticks. She rocks my world with all her talent and creations, plus she brings "Sunshine" to my life!

"A good laugh is sunshine in the house." ~William Makepeace Thackeray

With all the packing, moving, unpacking, packing, moving...etc., etc., I realized I have a lot of fabric. Even with all the thinning out I've tried to do over the years, there's still plenty to keep me busy.

So with one of those "in my head" ideas, I grabbed this and that from my stash with the sole purpose of not buying new fabric and using what I had. What came out of my head and stash was a 30" x 30" wall hanging for my sewing room.

The wall unit has a bar that's there to hook a ladder on, but I don't have the ladder yet...someday, hopefully. It adds some brightness to the room and makes me smile.

It even looks cheery in my backyard by the lemon tree!

Of course, I used my favorite iron-on adhesive. I love Heat n Bond Lite Iron-on Adhesive! I also used 28wt Aurifil thread for more definition around each piece.

There will be a whole week full of "Stitching Sunshine" happening and I know you'll be inspired as much as I will by what you see. Check out who's hopping with us!

Vintage Toy Time With Riley Blake Designs Fisher-Price Fabric

Back in the "olden days" when my children were small, Fisher-Price toys were all around my house. The airplane, bus, and xylophone were their favorites. Now thanks to Riley Blake Designs, those favorite toys are in adorable fabrics that are ready for quilts, toy animals, or pillows. There's no limit as to what these fun fabrics can be used for!

The carousel and people are adorable!

I love anything dotted so it was fun to see these fabrics in several colors. They are perfect for backgrounds.

With all the memories this sweet fabric stirred up, I was reminded of all the fun my children had with the toys. They've changed a bit over time, but they are still the best toys around.

"Vintage Toy Time"
48" x 58"

"Fisher-Price" fabrics are 100% cotton and come in some really cute designs! Do you remember the  popping sound some of those toys made? It was definitely a smile maker!

The back of my quilt has that push toy popper in the fabric along with other toys. The xylophone fabric was perfect for the binding.

The center block has fabric with lions, monkeys, and other Fisher-Price characters. The lettering is the colors spelled out...what a great way to teach colors to children!

Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons come in so many colors, which made it easy to match them with the Fisher-Price fabrics.

I think you'll love the Fisher-Price fabrics as much as I do!

My Day For Riley Blake Designs "Yuletide" Fabric Tour

It's never too early to sew for Christmas, so I was totally ready to jump
right in and get creative with Riley Blake Designs new "Yuletide" fabric by
My Mind's Eye. It is great for quilting, apparel and home decor.

The prints are so festive with a variety of designs that will have you smiling
for sure. I love those houndstooth plaids, don't you! If you look close at the
Sleigh Toile you'll see a horse drawn carriage and deer...so beautiful!

"Yuletide Frolic"

Quilting by Sew Sassy Longarm

Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons "Hint of Mint" works really nice with "Yuletide"
and so does "Joey Criss Cross Mint", one of RBD's fabrics from last year.
I found some of it in my stash and was loving how well it went with "Yuletide."

Such lovely fabrics and colors!

They are ready for a little Yuletide Frolic!
