Riley Blake Designs Back In The Saddle Blog Tour

The moment I saw the panels from the "Back in the Saddle" fabric line, I was in love!
They were gorgeous in colors and designs. I couldn't wait to put my favorite panel into a quilt
for the Riley Blake Designs Blog Tour. I was totally drawn to the horse running in water!

Riley Blake Designs Cowboy Country Blog Tour

There's a new Riley Blake Designs fabric in town, Cowboy Country, and it's full of good
guys, bad guys, paisleys, and is totally fun. The prints are bright and colorful, too!
Carta Bella Paper Co. did an amazing job designing these for Riley Blake Designs.

I couldn't wait to get sewing with four of the fabrics from the line...

Wayward Cowboy

My very favorite fabric was the newsprint design, only it was hard to concentrate
on sewing because I kept wanting to read what was written on it. I love it!

It's been quite a few years since I've been on a horse, but I'm a cowgirl at heart.
Of course, I was a black hat kind of cowgirl on my white horse, Anita.

It seemed like a good idea to add a black hat to the Wayward Cowboy.

You can find the PDF pattern for Wayward Cowboy in my Etsy store HERE.

Therm O Web Sew Along Projects Begins Today

Last week ThermOWeb shared four different blocks for the Spring Sew Along.
This week there are four free projects you can make with those blocks.
You can make one of the projects or all four…it’s up to you! Once you finish your
blocks, be sure to post pics of them on Instagram or Facebook with the tag #thermoweb.

Today is my day for the Spring Sew Along and I'm sharing a basket that’s really easy to
make. Those sweet blocks went together to create a 10″ fabric basket that is perfect for all
sorts of things. My daughter has a household of all boys, so giving her this basket to store
diapers gives her a feminine touch to a corner in her room.  It would also be great for holding
patterns or craft supplies! HeatnBond Fleece Fusible High Loft added just the right amount
of stability to hold the sides up without being stiff.

Each block is 10" x 10" when finished and I used them for the sides of the basket.

My Day For The All About Strings Blog Hop

It's my day for Creatin' in the Sticks All About Strings Blog hop!
I have a few jelly rolls sitting around that definitely need some ideas for using and
I'm hoping this hop is going to be a big help in finding ways to use some of them!
There are a few in my stash that have been there a long, long time, but the one I used
for this hop isn't too old. The white jelly roll strips has been there a few years.

I used my "strings" to make a quilt as you go project.

I used only fabric from my stash on this one and put some minky fabric on the back.
My youngest daughter snatched it right up! I'm sure there will be a few Monkey Boys
snuggled up in it with her. It's 54" x 54" which is a nice size for cuddling those boys.

When I looked around for string quilt ideas, I found a quilt-as-you-go method on
Upstairs Hobby Room. It was easy and quick to make the 20 blocks. Once I'd sewn the
strips in place, I trimmed each block to 9 1/2" x 9 1/2" squares. The blocks were
then sewn in rows of four across and four down. Each border was two strips of 4" x 36 1/2"
and one strip of 2 1/2" x 36 1/2", with a square sewn on both ends of two of those strips

Monkey Boy feet!
He was an awesome helper.

Check out all the other "Strings" happening this week!

ThermOWeb's Spring Sew Along Starts Today

I'm so excited about a new sew along at ThermOWeb that features Spring Flowers!
We could all use some spring flowers after all the crazy weather we've had.
They're sharing four free applique patterns created by a few Therm O Web designers.

I'm sure you've seen me hanging out with these ladies a few times...

Designer Carla Henton from Creatin’ in the Sticks
Designer Kim Lapacek from Persimon Dreams
Designer Amy Warner from Sew Incredibly Crazy
Designer Carol Swift from Just Let Me Quilt - Look! It's me!

All the blocks are 10 1/2” x 10 1/2” unfinished and can be made with fat quarters and/or scraps.

Once you have your blocks sewn, come back during the week of March 26th to March 29th
for projects to use those blocks in.  Free patterns will be available with a list of supplies and
instructions. You can make one of the projects or all four…it’s up to you!

Share your blocks on Instagram or Facebook with the tag #thermoweb.
Come back next week for the Spring Flower Sew Along projects:

March 26 – Carol Swift
March 27 – Kim Lapacek
March 28 – Amy Warner
March 29 – Carla Henton

My favorite iron-on adhesive for the applique is (of course) HeatnBond EZ Print Sheets.
I run them through my printer...no tracing!

Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons In Steampunk Bird

I had a bit of fun with Steampunk using Riley Blake Designs' Confetti Cottons.
This rolling bird is made totally with Confetti Cottons!
The solid colors were easy to incorporate into this design.

"Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons solid fabric is a premium quilting cotton that has a soft
hand. Use it in your traditional or modern quilts, or on their own for a contemporary quilt style."

Steampunk Rolling Bird
Measures 42" x 52"

So many gorgeous Confetti Cotton fabrics went into this rolling bird!

A few of the beautiful colors I used:

Confetti Cottons Daffodil

Confetti Cottons Crayola Brussel Sproutlet

Confetti Cottons Beach

Confetti Cottons Crayola Cast Iron

Confetti Cottons Crayola Inchworm

Confetti Cottons Crayola Right-On-Red

The variety of colors seems endless...you'll love them!

You can find the pattern for Steampunk Rolling Bird in my Etsy Store HERE.

One of my favorite products for making my applique quilts is
Heat n Bond's EZ Print Lite Sheets. Just run the applique designs through an
inkjet printer and they are ready to iron to your fabrics. So easy!
