It's A Wild Life March Block Of The Month

It's March 1st so that means another block of the month for
It's A Wild Life!

This time it's a block from Carla who hangs out at Creatin' In The Sticks.
She designed this block and it is so cute, cute, cute!

My version of Carla's block has the deer wearing a brown and white gingham.
I think they were dressed up for their date night...maybe.

I'll be using Riley Blake Design fabrics including Confetti, Crayola, Kisses,
and more from their other lines like gingham and dots.

Getting Ready To Hop And Other Jabber From Me

Next week is the Small, Smaller, Smallest Blog Hop...I'm really excited!
I'm ready and can't wait to see all the small projects that will be shown.
There will be many wonderful ideas and inspiration for sure!

I feel like my life is one big secret sewing project after another...
probably because it is. I know most of you know what that's like, right!
It's either a gift, a blog hop project, or something for a deadline or two.
Seriously, I'm always sewing even if it doesn't look like here on my blog.

A few little snippets of projects for the Small, Smaller, Smallest Blog Hop:
Maybe I'm walking on sunshine for this one...maybe

Is someone at the door? Who could it be?

March 1st means another block issued for It's A Wild Life BOM.

Hello, little birdie!

This snippet is from the April 1st block for It's A Wild Life.

There might be a little St. Patrick's theme for this Therm O Web project.
No pinching, please!

There's the 30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days Blog Hop in April I'm sewing for, too.
I'm on the list for April 17th and April 21st...I can't wait!

One project almost done, one to go.
Can you spot what I'm making...it's the Spot block!

Sign-ups for Wish Upon A Star are at 35 right now...only a few spots left if you want to play
along. Email me soon to be a part of it! It just has to be a project with a star on it.

I was checking out blogs the other day and saw that Colette from What About Rheema
had bought herself a cart for her sewing things. Well, great minds think a like because
I had bought one, too. My sewing room is small so I'm usually spread out to
the other room for cutting and ironing. My sweet rolling cart holds everything I need
in the other room...I love it! So, since you asked for a picture, Colette, here it is...

Right now it has everything I've used the last week or so to put a project
together. Yes, there are lots of Therm O Web's Heat n Bond products in there!

See, I told you I've been busy sewing.
I've bored you enough with little bits of nothing to show,
but thanks for visiting and hanging around my blog for a bit!

Dear Stella Fabric Kimono Or Jacket

I found the cutest pattern to sew a kimono/jacket using the beautiful flannel,
Winter Cabin Artic Fox, by Dear Stella. It's such soft flannel!
I'm sharing it over on the Therm O Web blog today...check it out.

I love the colors and designs in this line of fabric. These are the three I used in the jacket:

The pattern I used is Simplicity #8172...easy and quick to make.

ThermOWeb Stitch n Sew Pattern Material is great for tracing the pattern and being
able to use it again and again. I will definitely be making another one of these!

Heat n Bond Soft Stretch Lite made hemming it a breeze and kept it soft, too.
The Oliso Purple Iron makes ironing fun...I love it!

Aurifil Thread – These 50wt colors were a great match to the Dear Stella flannel:
#5002, #2910, #2140, and of course, white.

Wish Upon A Star.
This should be another amazing one full of beautiful creations!

The blog hop rules are simple:

Your project must have a star somewhere on it.
It can be a star block, a star applique, or star shaped purse..whatever.
It can be big or small. As long as it has a star, you're in!

Post your project on your assigned day.

Have a giveaway or don't have a giveaway. It's totally optional!

Small Blog Hop Is Coming And News About A New Blog Hop

I had so much fun with the last blog hop and I'm getting really excited for the
next one, "Small, Smaller, Smallest" that will only be...small stuff, of course!

I'm trying to keep these blog hops simple so no one gets overwhelmed, including ME!
The blog hops are so motivating to me and inspiring because of what I see when I
visit all the different blogs. It's our own little quilt social group and anyone is welcome!
I feel like I make some of the best friends during these hops.

The "Put A Little Love In Your Quilt" blog hop practically ran itself, mainly because everyone
was so amazing and came through on time and with their projects. Yay...I loved it!

The next blog hop is about three months away. Plenty of time to sew something and
join in the fun. It's another easy theme that should get your brains rockin' with ideas.

Carla at Creatin' In The Sticks is hosting a month long blog hop
with talented people making projects with her easy and quick blocks.

Marian at Seams To Be Sew has started sign-ups for her row along.

Whew! So much happening, but it's spread out enough to make it enjoyable.
I hope to see you at some of these adventures I'll be playing in!

Riley Blake Designs Let's Sew Along With Lori Holt Bake Sale

I love being a part of this Riley Blake Designs "Let's Sew Along party!

What a great combination for a Let's Bake Sew Along...

The Riley Blake Design Bake Sale 2 fabrics are so cute...what's not to love!

Lori has templates for some of the blocks...I used the apron template.

Her instructions even include embroidery patterns!

It was so much fun to think of other ways to use those cute blocks Lori created!
My projects include the egg beater, large apron, and rolling pin.
You can find her post for making all three of them HERE.

Project One

The egg beater block reminded me of the egg beater my mom used. I still have it! It has
pink handles and she'd written her name on one side and the church name on the other.
Obviously, she wanted everyone to know it was her egg beater!

Using Lori's egg beater block as the center, I made it into a pot holder that is 10" x 14",
a larger size to hold a 9" x 13" pan of yummy brownies fresh from the oven!

Project Two

The Bake Sale 2 quilt pattern has several apron patterns included, but I used the larger apron
templates for this project. There's even a little pocket on the apron...cute, cute, cute!

I created a small quilt that is made to hang over a dishwasher to keep it slightly open.
Some newer dishwashers recommend not closing them completely when not in use. Seriously!
This meant I had a towel hanging in there all the time. Now I have this sweet small quilt with
extra space at the top to keep the dishwasher just a bit open. It looks so much nicer than that
old towel hanging there! Plus, it makes a cute table topper when not on the dishwasher.

Project Three

I have a rolling pin that was getting dinged up in my drawer. Since it's important not to have
nicks in a rolling pin (sugar cookies are best if they're nice and smooth), a cover was
needed! These is an easy, easy drawstring bag that fits my favorite rolling pin perfectly.
Lori's rolling pin is appliqued on a block, but for this project I appliqued it to the bag and
embroidered "rolling pin" on it...not that it isn't obvious what it is!

It was totally a pleasure to create a few extra ideas using those adorable blocks by Lori Holt.
Using Riley Blake Designs Bake 2 fabrics to put these together was such a sweet treat!
I love that fabric! But of course, I love all things Riley Blake.

If you feel like making one of theses, I have the patterns in my Craftsy store for free.
You'll have to visit Lori Holt's blog to get the instructions for her blocks and designs,
but my patterns will show you how to use them to make all of these projects.
