Sun, Sand, And Sea BOM...Block #2

Last month the sun definitely was shining in Block #1 of the Sun, Sand, and Sea BOM.
It was fun to see all the varieties and fabrics that were being sewn into a sun...loved it!
Block #2 gives us a little sand and sea to go along with that beautiful sun.

This block measures 12 1/2" x 24 1/2" unfinished.
There's a piecing and applique in this block.

Thanks to Riley Blake Designs, I'm sewing with solids from the Crayola fabric line.
The Crayola boxes make me smile when I look at them and the fabrics are just gorgeous!

You can find Block #1 at Amy's blog, Sew Incredibly Crazy.
She's the Royal Sun Queen in charge of this BOM and I just love her style.
Amy keeps all the designers in this group moving along and motivated.
Thanks, Amy!

My Block #1 - January
You can find the blog post HERE and the pattern HERE.

My Block #2 - February
You can find the info on it HERE and the pattern HERE.

Next month's blocks are by Carla at Creatin' In The Sticks

There's a Facebook page for Sew Incredibly Crazy and Friends where you can
share your sewn blocks and see what everyone else is creating.

I'm not crazy about tracing all the shapes when I applique, so I use Heat n Bond EZ Print Lite sheets. I love that all I need to do is run the design through my printer, iron to the wrong side of my fabric,
cut out the pieces, and then press them in place. It is so fast and easy...I love easy!

The In Our Garden Blocks Are All Together

I feel so proud of myself for finishing all the blocks in the In Our Garden Block of the Month
and then actually getting them sewn together into a quilt. We've had nothing but dark clouds and
rain today, but I was so excited to take a pic of it. My garden quilt is so big!

Thanks to the beautiful quilting done by Quilted Works it's ready for me to add the binding.

I loved using Riley Blake Design's fabrics for this quilt. The fabrics were amazing!

Thanks to Amy at Sew Incredibly Crazy for letting us all get creative with our gardens!

Happy Valentine's Day With Love Quilts

Happy Valentine's Day to you!
In honor of the day, I found some of my favorite love quilts to share.

A Dresden and a heart...what's not to love!

The fabrics in this love quilt made a perfect gift to show my love for someone who was ill.

Hugs and kisses all wrapped up in a quilt.

A little ruffle makes a sweet Valentine quilt.

Hearts, hearts, everywhere hearts!

I hope your day is filled with lots of hugs, kisses, and chocolate, of course!

Treat yourself to a sweet treat of a sale, too!

182 Day Solstice Challenge Block #8

Each block in Pat Sloan's 182 Day Solstice Challenge has not been difficult.
It's a perfect challenge to learn new blocks and use up fabric in you stash.
I love how great her directions are. Thanks, Pat!

182 Solstice Challenge Block #8
This one is bigger than the other ones - finished size 18" x 18"

This block has some applique, which I love, so I used my favorite adhesive,
Thermoweb's Heat n Bond Lite.

Pat has also shown some layouts for the blocks to make it easy for us.

Have you checked out Sew Incredibly Crazy's BOM, Sun, Sand, and Sea?
If so, have you started sewing the first block?
My sun is completed and Block #2 will be released on March 1st. I can't wait!

I ooh and aah a lot about the fabrics I'm using...Riley Blake Design's Crayola solids. Love them!

I've been sewing Moda Color Daze batiks that I won from Soma at Whims and Fancies. Of course,
I'm using the Aurifil thread I won, too. I was soooo lucky to win...thanks again, Soma!

A Quick Little Valentine Fabric Envelope Gift

Need a quick little Valentine gift for someone you love?
This fabric envelope is so easy to make and can be filled with all sorts of yummy treats!

You can find the directions for the Valentine fabric envelope today at the Therm O Web blog.

The flower and tag are made using Deco Foil...love that purple!

I'm not sure the chocolate will actually make it out of my house.
I love Ghirardelli chocolates!

Samantha's Blue Horse Quilt

Samantha has a horse with blue eyes, so it seemed appropriate to make her a
quilt in pretty shades of blue. It has minky on the back that's perfect for cuddling with
her dog...not her horse, of course. I don't think her mom lets the horse in the house.

I found the horse applique design online HERE.
Fabrics are Andover Fabrics Dimples.
Quilting was done by Quilted Works.

I love to applique using Heat n Bond Lite adhesive. It peels off so easy!

Madison's Andy Warhol Style Quilt

A beautiful girl named Madison loves Andy Warhol art and wanted her quilt to be designed with
that in mind. It's been sitting for a while without binding, but it is finally finished.
It has beautiful black minky on the back and was quilted by Quilted Works.

I've finished a quilt for her sister, Samantha, and it's at the quilters now.
I can't wait to get them both to those sweet girls!

Caught Up With The 182 Day Solstice Challenge Blocks

It feels good to be caught up with all the blocks for the 182 Day Solstice Challenge.
Seven blocks completed, lots more to go. Crossing my fingers that I can make it to the end!

The blocks are so easy to sew together and the directions are great.
It's actually been fun to sew them!

Sun, Sand, And Sea BOM Begins Today...Block #1

Amy at Sew Incredibly Crazy had such a fun idea for this year's BOM and I'm loving it!
The Sun, Sand, and Sea BOM begins today with a beautiful sun to warm our souls.

This month's design is by Amy!

On the first day of each month a new block will be released. There's a Facebook page
for sharing the blocks you sew and to see what everyone else is up to.

Sew Incredibly Crazy and Friends Facebook page:

Lucky me, I'm using Riley Blake Designs Crayola solid colors for the entire quilt.
It makes me smile just looking at those cute boxes!

You can find the instructions for the February block at Sew Incredibly Crazy.

Tip: I like to use a light weight fusible interfacing on the back of my block to stabilize the fabrics
when I machine embroidery around the edges. Heat n Bond Fusible Interfacing is my favorite.
