It's the last day and my day of Queen of Gadgets and what a week it has been! There have been so many gadgets shared... I need to go shopping!
If we could count fabric as a gadget, there wouldn't be a crown big enough for us! I used some of these creepy and spooky Halloween fabrics by Benartex for my project. They are from the "Halloween Spirit" collection.
Witchy, Stichy, Boo
"Halloween Spirit"...some of it glows in the dark!
I love gadgets of all kinds, but there might just be a few I've purchased that never got used. Is there a walk of shame for having too many unused gadgets?
While looking through my gadgets, it became apparent that I have a lot of them. It was too hard to pick out just one favorite, so here are a few favorites of mine.
GADGET #1: Having a Crafter's Edge Crossover II is a winner of a gadget. Cutting out flowers, circles, etc. are a breeze! I used the scalloped circle from the Sugar Skull dies, a circle from the Circles dies, and a flower from the Flower dies for my "Witchy, Stitchy, Boo" quilt.
The minky on the back is incredibly soft and very purple!
GADGET #2: My long time, had-it-forever, can't-live-without-it, cutting ruler is an O'Lipfa 5" x 18" lipped ruler. Love it! With the addition of a handle, it makes cutting easy! Those skeletons on purple make me smile.
GADGET #3: Did you know that those rubber tipped quilting gloves work great for stitching applique. It is so much easier on the hands when doing a lot of applique stitching. In case you didn't know, I DO A LOT OF APPLIQUE PROJECTS! My hands do a happy dance when I use those gloves.
GADGET #4: Using a heatproof pressing sheet to assemble applique pieces before applying to fabric ensures proper placement. Just layout the pieces on the sheet, lightly press, let cool, and remove to place on fabric.
This is the one I use...
GADGETS #5 AND #6: I can't imagine taking on a quilt project without a pretty (and purple) rotary cutter and an even prettier seam ripper. That seam ripper is amazing!
GADGET #7: This was one of those gadget purchases that I had to have and then wasn't sure of. The iron sits on the silicone mat and the binding irons itself as you pull it through the loops. It's actually pretty cool for making binding. My Mini Oliso iron works great with it.
GADGET #8: I was lucky to have my friend buy a new longarm because she sold her old one to me for a really good price (I couldn't refuse, it was that good.) These quilt clips are great for holding the fabric in place!
GADGET #9: My EQ8 is totally up there with my favorite gadgets. I use it all the time!
I used it to design Witchy, Stitchy, Boo.
