Born To Be Wild Blog Hop And My Day

It has definitely been a wild week of fun! I love a good challenge and it was amazing to see the incredible projects that came out for the "Born to be Wild" blog hop. Thank you to all who participated and visited!

It is my turn to share my answer to the challenge and I decided to mimic the logo for this hop.

Pretty close and easy tracing thanks to EQ8!

Sewing all those little appliqued spots wasn't easy, but I think this guy turned out okay.

A funky and wild checked border seemed appropriate

I'm still learning the ins-and-outs of my longarm, but these pink grips have been great tools.

I found this so, so cute fabric at Sew Yeah quilt store and had to have it. There's still some fabric left, but I used a bit of it for a quick bag.

Seriously, you can't help but smile at these wild creatures in sunglasses.

The flowers in our backyard are looking beautiful right now!

I hope you've had a great week feeling the wild spirit of all who have shared projects. Please take the time to visit and leave a comment. It's a great way to make someone feel good!

This is one of the first quilts I started in 2009 and finished in 2011 using Laurel Burch fabric, "Secret Jungle." It is my favorite quilt and I use it everyday when I'm watching TV or working on my laptop. It is definitely wild! I struggled to find a backing for it because it has so many crazy colors in it.

Two years after finishing the quilt top I visited a Utah quilt store, Scrap Apple, in search of a quilt fabric for the back. Luckily I met a sales person, Linda Krepela, who helped me pick out the wild zebra fabric for the back. I wasn't sure about it, but it was perfect for it.

As the years went by I considered Linda my friend and we had a lot of laughs and serious discussions about mutual things in our lives. She was the queen of sewing demos and quilt classes! Linda died of Covid this year which broke a lot of people's hearts including mine. My quilt has more meaning than ever now.

Check out all my "Born to be Wild" friends!

Born To Be Wild Blog Hop Announcement And Sign-Ups

The May blog hop, Born to be Wild", is going to be about sewing something that's jungle related. Like  jungle animals, wild colors or designs, or jungle fabrics. Are you up for the challenge! It can be a quilt, bag, stuffed animal, or whatever you can dream up.

If you want to participate in the blog hop and show a project on your blog, email me with your blog name and blog URL.

What is a blog hop? It's like a "show and tell" online or like joining a quilt guild without leaving home. Carla from Creatin' in the Sticks and I host blog hops featuring sewing and quilting.  We post a challenge on our blogs and those who want to join in email us with their blog info.

After we get that info, we assign a date for them to post their project. We give everyone plenty of time to sew something, usually two months. We inspire each other with projects, tutorials, or patterns. Anyone can follow along!

The Salt and Sand blog hop starts Monday...I'm so excited!

Carla will be hosting In the Kitchen Stitchin' in May. This will be so fun!

I hope you'll play along with us!

Dresden Carnival In Rikstacket

C heck out the Summer 2026 R IKSTACKET quilt magazine that my friend, Britt-Inger, sent me  from Sweden. It was such a pleasure and an hono...
