I'm A Little Ruffled Today

I LOVE RUFFLES!

Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt was in a ruffly kind of mood and got a lot of us thinking about what we could make with ruffles. She brought on Amy from Sew Incredibly Crazy to cheer us on and keep us all in line. Thanks to both of them this is another amazing hop just full of ruffles, ruffles, ruffles!

While thinking and looking for ruffle ideas, I saw this adorable embroidery pattern over at the Nana Company called Sleepy Time Animal Pals and just loved it...had to have it, of course. With a little pink and beige fabric strips I made it into a quilt-as-you go baby quilt with brown and beige polka dots for the binding.

A Little Ruffled Sleep

Last year I bought a book by Helen Scott called the Bonnet Girls and it had been sitting there just waiting for me to make something out of it. This seemed like as good a time as ever, so with fabric by Red Rooster, ruffles, rhinestones, and a 22.5" x 28" frame...tada! She looks great hanging in my sewing room!

It's March...Really?

What the heck happened to January and February?

I can't believe it is almost time for leprechauns, green shamrocks, and a pinch or two.

You know what else it's almost time for?

RUFFLES!
LOTS AND LOTS OF RUFFLES!
YOU    DON'T    WANT    TO   MISS   THIS!

I've spent a few weeks staring up at my ceiling fan, but now my back is better
and I'm ready to get all girly and show off my ruffles. My day is March 7th!

Zombies Or The Need To Sew

My goofy family long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away

My family can be pretty funny sometimes. We're all fans of the TV series The Walking Dead (zombies are included in the story line) and have some interesting conversations about what we'd do if zombies tried to take over or a disaster of epic proportions occurred. Just to make it clear, we DON'T really believe in zombies, but we love the what-if conversations and the laughs we have while discussing them.

That being said, this is the text message I received from daughter #2 today that totally made me smile and maybe even a little bit LAUGH OUT LOUD:

What does a dream mean when you dream of sewing massive amounts of quilts with your Mom?
A.  I need to sew
B. I need to prepare for an upcoming zombie apocalypse or other future disaster
C. I just dream crazy
D. I miss my Mom and love her

I told her "all of the above." I just love that girl!

FYI--If you get creeped out by scary stuff, don't look at the following photo she created of herself as a zombie (she's much prettier, but should zombies attack, she will fit right in looking like this):

On a lighter and less weird note, we have a frilly blog hop coming up that has me thinking
RUFFLES!

I definitely have the need to sew and have been busy making girly kind of things that involve lots of
RUFFLES.
