Music In The Air This Week

It's the first day (and my day) of the "Music" blog hop hosted by the amazing Carla of Creatin' in the Sticks. I'm sure someone will share a song or two along with their project that will be repeating itself in my head after this week is over. Hopefully it is a song I like!

With a few delays to sewing my project, it actually worked out to my advantage. Joan from Moosestash Quilting flew in for the weekend and we took our quilts out with us for photos and adventures. To say we had a blast is an understatement! She posts her quilt project tomorrow. I claim the 5th on anything she might say about our adventures.

Joan was so brave while standing close to those bighorn sheep. Some of them have big, big horns!

You can see Lake Mead in the background. The water is so low!

Guitar Obsession

Fabrics used were Benartex's Cotton Shot by Amanda Murphy.

I love solids for my applique projects, and these are perfect for them.

Cotton Shot Amethyst, Cotton Shot Red, and Cotton Shot Green fabrics made me want to

"Twist and Shout" while I was putting the guitar applique pieces together. Such pretty colors!

Boulder City has some interesting shops, like Sherman's House of Antiques.

Joan and I were given permission to take photos with some popular stars standing out front.

Dan Ackroyd and Elvis sang the blues for us while holding my quilt.

John Belushi was the perfect "Soul Man" for this photo.

Marilyn thought quilts might just be a girl's best friend instead of diamonds.

"Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum" and a warm quilt to trade for gold.

Darth Vader wouldn't give me my quilt back and I wasn't going to argue with him.

I didn't want to start a Quilt War...he's too scary!

We tried, and failed, to stay out of trouble at the Clark County Museum in Henderson. Apparently, while crashing a wedding in the chapel, we set off an alarm by hanging our quilts over a plexiglass partition. Whoops! The museum worker was nice to us, though. He said he was glad it was us and not someone stealing something.

This train at the museum was a stark reminder that I was now a relic and/or antique. The train used to sit in "Fantasy Park" in North Las Vegas where I would play on it as a child. It was old back then, but there were no fences to stop us from climbing on it. Any old timer from Las Vegas usually remembers the fun times they had climbing on it. In spite of how old it made me feel, I was so excited to see it!

Who's Looking At You This Halloween

Oh, my goodness! It's only a few weeks until Halloween...yay! This is my last project for ThermOWeb, but not the last time I use their fabulous products. I love Heat n Bond Lite EZ Print Sheets for my applique. I just run those sheets through my inkjet printer and I'm ready to go. No tracing!

We've decided to call it Sew It - Show It.

We've been challenging our blogger friends each month and they never disappoint.

With a new name, Sew It-Show It, we'll be looking for twenty bloggers each month

who want to meet our challenges and share their creations.

It won't be much different than our previous blog hops, but we've found that it's hard

for some people to visit so many blogs in one day. So...it will be just four days with five

bloggers each day. That means (sadly) that we won't have unlimited openings anymore.

Creepy Cauldron Mini Quilt For Halloween

I'm a little crazy about Halloween and love making mini quilts to show off just how crazy I am. This mini is over on the ThermOWeb blog where you can find lots and lots of fun projects, including Halloween creations.

Falling For You Blog Hop And My Day

The summer has been hotter than normal (or maybe it is just me) and I can't wait to feel some cooler breezes. Fall and that sweet cool weather is just around the corner, so Joan from Moosestash Quilting had a fun idea for a blog hop to get us all in the cooler weather spirit.

The "Falling For You" blog hop is just what we needed! Thanks, Joan!

Fall means family and Thanksgiving to me, so "Gnome for Thanksgiving" seemed like the perfect "falling for you" project to share.

Fabrics are Benartex Blushed Houndstooth...so many beautiful colors in 100 percent cotton!

Benartex Blushed Houndstooth used in quilt:

Lt. Turquoise, Leaf, Sage. Aquamarine, Honey, Yellow, Buttercup, Salmon, Almond, Biscotti

Benartex Superior Solids used in quilt:

Fern, White, Vanilla, Gold, Black

This gnome is ready with his pumpkin to make some pie.

The fabric colors are really soft looking and almost look like flannel.

A little bird is hitching a ride to Thanksgiving dinner.

Luckily, he's not big enough to be on the menu.

Turquoise is the background fabric in the center block and Sage is the border.

I love the Blushed Houndstooth Yellow in the flower center!

The Sage looks lovely in the modified hourglass block.

The star in this folded quilt is beautiful in Salmon and Almond.

That pumpkin he's tightly gripping is in Superior Solids Gold.

I did a little digging for an older Thanksgiving photo of my family and found this one from 2009. It only has two Monkey Boys (there will be seven monkeys in February) and we all look a lot younger. Fun memories!
