It's time for another row along by Marian at Seams to be Sew.Thanks, Marian, for putting this
in motion and lining everything up! This time we're having fun with "Once Upon A Story"
of fairy tales, poems, and songs. I knew right away I'd be making something with the
"Five Little Monkeys" theme. Monkeys are kind of my thing!
My Monkey Boys love to jump on anything, including beds!
This block is unfinished at 30 1/2" x 30 1/2"
In case you don't know the song...
Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed
Five little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor And the doctor said
No more monkeys jumping on the bed
No more monkeys jumping on the bed
Four little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor And the doctor said,
No more monkeys jumping on the bed
Three little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor
And the doctor said,
No more monkeys jumping on the bed
Two little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor
And the doctor said,
No more monkeys jumping on the bed
One little monkey jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor
And the doctor said,
Put those monkeys right to bed
The fabrics I used were by Northcott who generously gave me one yard of fabric, which I used
for the background. It's Stonehenge Gradations #39382-12. Of course, I had to have more,
so I bought a bundle of this pretty fabric from the Fat Quarter Shop. The colors are amazing!

ReplyDeleteVery cute. I sing 6 little monkeys jumping on the bed while I brush my teeth. It ends up being about 2 minutes which is just right.
ReplyDeleteThe theme of 5 Little Monkeys besides being an old fairy tale poem teaches kids to count 1-5 along with no jumping in bed or you'll get hurt--- stay in bed. That might be too simplistic but that;s how I see it without a lot of historical research.
ReplyDeleteWe have a little monkey of a grandson, who loves jumping. Love your block! Thanks for sharing! I have a reminder for a song I haven't yet sung to him, & I'm hoping he'll sing along.
