Having four Crafter's Edge Monster dies and three Monkey Boys together at one time made for a really special quilt-making activity. They had so much fun designing monsters for this quilt!
The Monkey Boy's Monster Quilt

Crafter's Edge Crossover II and dies made it quick and easy to create the quilt. I used four different Monster dies, the 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" Squares die, and the 2 1/2" Strip Cutter for Border A and the binding.
The background for the monsters and the solid color squares were cut out using the Squares 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" die. the square die comes in several sizes, not just one...from 1 1/2" to 7" squares. You can run up to six layers of fabric through the Crossover II.
The Monster Quilt supplies:
Crafter's Edge dies and machine
Batting, thread, and iron
Cutting directions:
Cut 13 – 6 ½” x 6 ½” monster squares
Cut 13 - monsters and miscellaneous features
Cut 12 – 6 ½” x 6 ½” color squares
Cut 2 – 2 ½” x 30 ½” left and right Border A
Cut 2 – 2 ½” x 34 ½” top and bottom Border A
Cut 2 – 4 ½” x 34 ½” left and right Border B
Cut 2 – 4 ½” x 42 ½” top and bottom Border B
Cut 5 – 2 ½” x 42” binding
Iron
adhesive to wrong side of fabrics; let cool. Following Crafter’s Edge
instructions, place paper side of adhesive facing up on platform*. Cover as
directed before running through machine. Run die and fabric through machine. *To reverse the direction of design, place fabric side up before cutting.
I let the boys choose how they wanted to decorate the monsters. They used a heatproof ironing sheet to lay out their designs and then I could easily carry it to the ironing board when they were done creating.

Monkey Boy #5 put a lot of concentration and creativity into designing his monsters.
With a heatproof pad underneath, press each monster for a second or two. When they are no longer hot, they easily peel off and are ready to be ironed to the squares.
Peel off paper liner from the backs of applique pieces. Place applique, adhesive side down, on right side of fabric. Press according to package directions until entire piece is bonded. Let cool. Sew around edges of applique using a straight, zig-zag, or blanket stitch.
With right sides together, sew the rows together by alternating solid blocks with applique blocks as shown in quilt. Press seams to sides. Sew all the rows together as shown in quilt; match seams.
With right sides together, sew 2 ½” x 30 ½” Border A strips to left and right of center blocks. Press seams towards border. With right sides together, sew 2 ½” x 34 ½” Border A strips to top and bottom of center blocks. Press seams down.
With right sides together, sew 4 ½” x 34 ½” Border B strips to left and right of Border A. Press seams towards border. With right sides together, sew 4 ½” x 42 ½” Border B strips to top and bottom of Border A. Press seams down.
Finish quilt using your favorite quilting and binding method.
