It's A Quilt Along Cake Snapshot

I think I've lost my mind.

No, actually, I'm SURE I've lost my mind.

I was in the middle of Elephants on Parade and I saw that Kris (of Kris Loves Fabric) had joined a
quilt along that benefits St. Judes Children's Hospital, so I jumped right in to join her in the fun.
What was I thinking!
I guess I was thinking this looked like an awesome quilt and I HAD to make it!
You can find all the details over at the Fat Quarter Shop.

I'm a little behind and just barely finished the cake using fabrics that I've had in my stash
FOREVER. I have a fat quarter bundle and tons of yardage! I wish I'd used a different fabric where
the blue and green polka dots are so that the "chocolate frosting" would show up better.
I may change it up later, but maybe not. Just not sure about it right now.

As for the elephants, I got more white fabric so they are finally moving forward again.
Thank you, Doug, at Clover Patch Quilt Shop for calling me about the fabric coming in! Whoohoo!
Sew Fresh Quilts has all the details on this quilt along...there's still time to join in!

I've also been working with some amazing fabric for the Tree Bird Hop at Sew We Quilt.
The colors of the birds and birdhouses in the fabric by Elizabeth's Studios are just so vibrant!

I have to go now. It's time for my strait jacket fitting.
I'm sure there's several of you who will be joining me...right?

  1. Carol, your block looks truly scrumptious. And, may I point you in this direction?
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
Alice: How do you know I'm mad?
The Cat: You must be. Or you wouldn't have come here.

  3. Oh yes, the desire to do it all and give to everyone and every cause does tend to over-commit us. Your cake looks delicious just the way it is. Kris has the perfect comment above. Just quilt a "straight jacket" and not wear one! Blessings...

  4. Obviously you didn't see the mini version that Kris found which is just too sweet for words? I am collecting the patterns right now, but soon I will be joining you ladies on the snapshot quilt along.

  6. Help! I lost my mind and don't know where to find it! :-).
I haven't started the quilt, but have collected the first two patterns. Will start it later after I get the straight jacket off.

  7. Rosemary B here:
I thought about joining this year. I did do last years for Make a Wish.
That was fun and I always need projects where I have to follow directions. My brain NEEDS that, hahaha
I have a zillion little projects going this year. That seems to be working for me.
Stuff I can take to my parents and sew on my featherweight.
I know this years project will be wonderful St Jude's is a superb asset to our community.

  8. I'm in line for the straight jacket fitting. But I did have a brief moment of sanity when I made the decision to collect the patterns and wait to start it later.... after the moving truck has left and I can hide in my fabric stash.

  9. I love the Make a Wish quilt but just have not found time to sew the blocks. Same with the Elephant Parade. I am working on (the first of) my Bird Tree quilt(s) ... :-) Pat

  11. So glad you found the white fabric, so that your elephants will move forward again. I was so inspired by your pink elephants that I made some myself. You'll find them on my blog, and I'm still going to make more of them.
