Elephants Parade My Way

I was visiting Kris Loves Fabric and saw that she was participating in a new quilt along called
"Elephant Parade" created by Sew Fresh Quilts. Of course, if Kris was doing it, I had to do it, too!
It makes an adorable baby quilt...I love the elephants!

I was feeling rather proud of myself for following the really easy pattern directions,
something I'm not always good at because I'm easily distracted. There they were,
all cut out, sewn together, pressed and looking so cute. Then I saw it...WHOOPS!

All my elephants are going the same direction. Dang it! I missed that instruction!

Sooooo, my big elephants will be doing their own thing and going one direction.
I'm not sure how that will work out, but I'm out of the gray Clothworks fabric so I can't make more.

Next up will be the baby elephants...they are so cute!

  2. This is perfect timing! I made my daughters master suite bedspread, curtains and piilowshams with a matching throw for the foot of the bed. And I started Parkers room which is going to be an Alabama, Roll Tide room. I made his curtains which have a fabric panel at the bottom with elephants on it... I have to make his bedspread with solid gray fabric, which I bought a very soft corduroy for. I will have plenty fabric left so I need to make him a throw! Thank you for shouting this out!

  3. I always tell my friend that part of being a good sewer is to take your mistakes and make them look like you meant to do it! Good luck, looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

  4. It will just look like there are no confused-going-in-a-different-direction elephants at the parade Carol. They look really cute, don't they?! I'm doing this Quilt along too!

  6. Oh cool I'm doing this one too. I need to go fabric shopping this weekend and see if I can find some background in off white that I like then I want to start mine.

  7. Carol, I also did my big ones and also gad an "whoooops" effect, so I sew two more facing the other direction, LOL...

  10. I've seen this QAL and think it's darling. Your elephants look great, regardless of their direction. Maybe they know something that you don't know and are heading in the right direction after all.

  11. I'm going to participate, just haven't started yet ! Look at your elephants like this......you've trained them to do what you want them to do, after all, what good is an untrained elephant for someone who lived in Vegas ?

  13. Buahaha, as if I haven't followed you into something as well!! Glad you are doing this, love your big elephants. Cool choice of material!! This one was a must for me as I love Ed Emberly. I think it will be great with them turned all the same as you can have the two "kissing" their babies :)

  15. Well, you can always buy more fabric and make two quilts. You can use half of the elephants on one quilt and the other on the other. You would just have tow quilts in progress.

  17. Loving your pink elephants. This is the sweetest stitchery. And you elephants might all be heading in the same direction cause lunch awaits them there.

  18. This quilt is uber cute and I adore the elephants...especially in your fun colors. I believe if your elephants want to all face the same way then so it shall be. Creative Elephant Bliss...

  19. Oh, you are not the only one, Carol.... That's okay! Some of the mama's can be facing the babies or following behind them. Consider it a creative design element! Love, love, love your fabric choices. Those are such pretty, pretty mama elephants! So glad you are joining in the parade!
